  1. The early podcast is such a frequent occurence now that Monday podcasts seem late. :D

    • Yeaah early pocast! Just came from the seeing the movie, good times man good times, After working a 12 hour shift all these rewards today man.

    • Ive actually been coming to the site again on monday and wondering why there isnt a podcast only to realize…oh yeah.

      • We appreciate all he early podcasts you post for the big movie reviews.

    • Ha! Don’t get used to it guys. Getting these things up early isn’t easy ;) Still, with these big summer tentpole films, we want to be able to get them to you ASAP!

      • Your hard work is much appreciated! Thanks!

    5. Blended
    10. Heaven is For Real

  3. Xmen
Million ways to die in the west
    Rio 2

Keep up the great work guys!!!

    • Thanks! And thanks for listening!

  4. So… Edgar Wright dropped out from Ant Man.

    • Edgar Wright did not drop out of me!

  5. Gotta get to those spoilers faster.

My question is….why have iceman in the room instead of blink, why couldnt blink teleport wolverine and shadowcat out of there.

    • We always want to make sure that we talk about the film for a bit without spoilers – since it is a review and some people might still be deciding whether or not to see the movie at all.

They couldn’t move Wolverine and Shadowcat once they were in place (since she was “holding him” in time). If Blink moved them, it’d sever the connection to the past. So they needed everyone else trying to slow down the Sentinels.

      • Just dont like when you guys start using specific examples from the movie but vaguely
Rather have it 1. ben give broad description of the movie, 2. (good/bad)reasons then (see it /dont see it) from each person then 3. jump into spoilers.
But the connection was severed during the stryker moment I thought, and they just restarted it.
And magneto was in the room, he couldve just made platforms under them like a gurney so they wouldnt even have to get up.

        • Well, we try to find a balance. I get what you mean but there are other listeners who ask us to ensure that we talk non-spoilers for the review portion (since that’s how we approach reviews at the site). I hear you though.

They didn’t restart the connection – she had to stabilize it when he started to slip. Had they lost it entirely, they would have failed. They literally could not move Wolverine at all – it wasn’t an option (based on the rules they established in the intro). No doubt those rules are in service of the film’s drama/setup but they were the rules, had they moved him in any significant way (beyond him flailing around) the connection would have been severed entirely.

          • You guys didn’t mention when Magneto said JFK was a mutant. You either loved it or rolled your eyes lol

            • My comment to that is, do you think magneto was telling the truth?
He knows xavier cant read his mind, the bullet did cuuuurved…..(the guy who can apparently stop a bullet dead couldnt stop it) but hit him anyway and how could they even catch him unless it was a stunt meant to be seen.

I say this because he did go to the white house and threatened the president to make an example.

          • My second point still stands, magneto couldve moved them, not even having to interrupt it.
teleport them on to the jet instead of blowing it up, and just finish the mission out on the run.
Sentinel ships dont seem to be that fast.

            • Also Im not angry that didnt happen or even nitpicking, just saying that couldve happened in my logic book.

So who do you think apocalypse will make his four horsemen?

  6. Guys think of the title as a “Court case” Where you have Roe V Wade… The 1st name in a case is the one that has a “Problem” with the 2nd name! HENCE the Batman V Superman!

That is how I see it, I have a friend that is a lawyer and this was the “simple” way of explaining It to my dumb ass…. lol! But that is what I think they were implying with the V in the title!

    • Oh please, oh please let there be an actual court case…

      • Batman: Objection!!!

  7. I love Kofi’s reaction to Batman V Superman Title. It mirrored mine. I was always optimistic and whenever someone used to tell me its a Justice League Prequel I told them No way its a Superman sequel!. They just stunned me with dawn of Justice thing. Happy that I am not the only one.

  8. Best X-Men movie yet but far from best CBM. Storm and Warpath served no purpose. The sentinels in the past were underwhelming. The serum that helped Professor X walk was lame. J-Law’s Mystique is a bit sketchy. The future scenes were a bit underwhelming. Far from being better than Cap 2 IMO, but it was the best X-Men yet.

  9. You guys forget about the mention Pietro made about his mom knowing a guy that “liked magnets” or something along those lines…? In the elevator…

AS welll as the announcement of Fan Bingbing’s 5 picture deal with Fox?

    • I thought we did mention the elevator scene. Maybe it was after we stopped recording.

I’d love to see Blink back for 5 movies but just because she’s signed, sadly, doesn’t mean it’s a sure thing.

  10. Did any of you guys notice that Azazel night crawler father was one of the victims who died from the testing for the sentinels?

    • Yeap, I think we may have talked about it. Angel Salvadore was in those files too.

  11. It’s not just fangirls it’s also the gay community as well. There is a lot of money there

  12. this is Bryan Singers best, no doubt about it

  13. Who are the new X-Men now?

  14. I really like your guys ideas about Fox potentially doing several movies in different time periods concurrently, I would love to see that! Also like your ideas about how it could linkup and connect with the FF reboot, although I have seen Kinberg state in multiple interviews that they are NOT going to be connected (citing the need for it to stand on its own, and the issues of mutants existing/not? and the public love for FF and vice versa fear and hatred of mutants)

Regarding the post credits scene, I think its pretty similar to the Thanos reveal after Avengers (although that one is at least contextual in time) I remember the majority of people in Avengers had NO IDEA who that was, I’ll admit I was one of them! I would have preferred them not show the face, and just have the people chanting. Several people thought it was a female face, and I can see that…

haha I really liked Rob’s shot at Avi Arad, what he said about Spiderman needing to be the main focus was so laughable…

  15. Wakfu’s main character has powers similar to Blink.

So…what’s the policy regarding the divided Marvel properties with respect to villains/rogues gallery? Are they allowed to share any? I actually prefer the separation of mutants and Avengers people cause mutant stuff always seemed a world apart. But this kind of restricts the villains for them. Who has the rights to Uatu the Watcher?

Can you guys do an article of what characters/villains overlap and which ones are exclusive?

  16. Good Podcast! I think the Dawn of Justice title was a way of saying the start of the Justice League. And I was hoping that they keep the sub titles for the day they make Batman v Superman Public Enemies.

I also can’t believe none of you want to see a Darth Sidious Star Wars spin off movie.I was always curious about his origins and how he developed his plan to take over the galaxy.

  17. I went to see X:DoFP today. It was a good movie, though not better than X2 or TWS. I was glad and sad at the same time at the ending. I was hoping the younger team would had replace the older X-Men and move forward to the current time. Can’t complain though. Bryan Singers set them on the right track of being good again and FOX don’t need the FF (they fit better w/MCU IMHO).

  18. hey guys. Is there a problem with you media player for these podcasts? It stops at 2:21:56 and keeps going. But I had to pause and it went back to the beginning. And now I can’t catch up to where you guys were past that cut off. Any thoughts?

    • You can try clicking on the “open in new window” link that I share in the middle of the post. It opens up a different media player that might be slightly more user friendly.

That… or subscribe in iTunes of Stitcher ;)

      • That open new window feature does the same thing but I will subscribe on iTunes! I forgot I could do that…

        Thanks Ben!

  19. I can’t believe it but I’ve now listened to this podcast TWICE and I normally don’t do that. Great work guys!

  20. Great movie and great podcast. I really liked the movie, it surprised me by how good it was but for me its not as great as Captain America: The Winter Soldier but its pretty damn close. Guardians of the Galaxy might not be as good a quality of film as either of these but I bet it will be more entertaining. I Am GROOT!

    • Exactly same feeling here on all counts.

  21. Again, look for x-men DOFP to have very good 2nd weekend.
I think the reason it didn’t do monster number was because it didn’t get boost of imax.(plus some are still put off by last stand movie).

2nd weekend will show good WOM x-men is getting. It’s awesome movie.

  22. The movie was okay for me, the actors held it together for the most part in my opinion. Some of the writing was just too scatter-shot for me with things being done strictly for plot device. At the end of the movie when they were looking for Mystique all I could think was how is that Wolverine can’t smell her?

As for the continuity issues at this point if anyone really cares they should just give up. The article on here got into some of the incongruities that were not even addressed in the movie and other ones like how there are now two Toads just seem like minor annoyances in the grand scheme of things.

  23. i believe simon kinberg said in some interview that rogue’s special effects were being completed for the dvd release.

  24. Can one of you re-explain how the “observer” time travel logic would work in this situation? Because….

Wolverine didn’t observe Mystique not assassinating Trask since he had drowned.

Even with the continuity errors and the time travel logic not syncing, this was the my favorite X-Men movie to date. That’s 3 decent X-Men films in a row for FOX…A NEW RECORD!!

    • It’s all bs pseudoscience, but I think they were saying Wolverine had to have observed all that in the past fully for the timeline shift to take place. Basically, everything shifts to change the timeline after he’s completed his mission.

The actual scientific principle it comes from is quantum mechanics and specifically quantum decoherence, I’m guessing.

    • Old Wolverine’s Mind was still in the past, even while drowning. The moment his mind returns to his future self, when Kitty lets go in the future, whatever’s happened while he was back takes effect and resets from the moment he returns.

      • Thanks Rob. That makes sense. Time travel wibbly wobbly mumbo jumbo makes me go cross-eyed.

    • As long as his consciousness is in the past, it hasn’t changed the future yet. Simple

  25. i’m pretty sure i read an interview where kinberg mentioned the special effects for rogues scenes were being completed for the dvd release, not sure though if it’ll just be an extra, or part of a directors cut. Hopefully the latter.

  26. 1. X-Men: Days of Future Past
    2. Maleficent
    3. A Million Ways to Die in the West
    4. Godzilla
    5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
    10. The Other Woman

  27. This is another one that I wish I would have waited for DVD. I was really trying to like this movie I tried to remember that this is not the beloved X-men I used to read when I was growing up but I just couldn’t get into it. First It moved to fast, the future scenes were so fast I didn’t know what was going on most of the time. And in the past there were so many locations and scene changes I found myself a bit lost in it all. Secondly Wolverine……….what does he do the whole movie? He talks then he talks some more and then when things get heavy, he pops his claws and stands there! He never gets to slice up sentinels or let loose and that is one thing that I have been looking forward to for a long time! I mean how can you have a movie with wolverine and giant robots but not let him fight any? In the few action scenes he is in he just stands there or gets beat up without trowing a punch. 3rd Quicksilver, one of the best characters and only comic relief in the movie doesn’t get enough screen time. I could watch a whole movie with just this guy in it to be honest because I only found myself enjoying this movie while he was in it. 4th I still don’t understand why they needed Magneto to stop raven? Magneto didn’t have any real purposes. It’s not like he had inside info on her location or a need to break into a special area that only a master of magnetism could get into. The only thing freeing him did was cause tons of destruction! They could have easily stopped Mystique by bringing quicksilver with and just having him duct tape her to a table or something. They also never explained the whole kitty pride time travel power? I don’t remember her being able to jump though time in the comics, only walls and stuff. I hate that movie studios we-write good stories from the comics and change things up. If you can’t come up with your own characters then stop ruining the good ones that others created. how would everyone feel if they re-did star wars but changed the whole f-ing thing with character dynamics that don’t feel right from what you grew up with? I mean why don’t we just make a new Sherlock Holmes and have Watson be a girl. BUT THEY DID THAT TOO! I AM GOING TO VOMIT ALL OVER THE PLAEC I AM SO SICK OF THIS! Ugh the more I rant about it the more I hate it. I don’t think I will ever get to see an x men movie that stays true to the comics in my life. This movie is probably good for people who were never hard core fans of the series and that’s fine. But the reason this is even a movie in the first place is because of the fans. But instead of giving us a real true to story arc X men we get this same Hollywood reprocessed garbage. They should have just done like first Spider man movie. That was a great example of a comic movie. They didn’t go to far off story and the costume was even correct! So I give The new X men movie a 7 out of 10. The hardcore X men fan in me hated the changes! As a movie it was entertaining enough but not great.

  28. In the comics, it is Mystique who is the main villain who assassinates Senator Kelley. Also in DoFP the film, Trask is very clear that he needs Mystique alive.

President Nixon doesn’t even know in the film that Magneto was implicated in JFK’s murder, so it makes sense that no one in the first X-Men films would know.

Wolverine had ten years between The Wolverine and DOFP to have his claws restored.

In the original timeline according to the promotional website, it was the events of The Last Stand and the destruction of Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge that caused the reactivation of the sentinels program, it was inactive during the first three films.

  29. Also, X-Men Apocalypse doesn’t necessarily need time travel. The events of Days of Future Past may have changed the past enough for Apocalypse to decide to come early when he never came at all.
