Psylocke Deadpool Wolverine Archangle Uncanny X Force Which Five Characters Will Form The X Force Movie Roster?

Two weeks ago, reports of Fox’s interest in adapting X-Force into a future X-Men movie resurfaced and quickly became a reality with the confirmation that Kick-Ass 2 writer and director Jeff Wadlow was penning the screenplay. With X-Men: Days of Future Past potentially serving as a launchpad for the future of Fox’s own Marvel universe and perhaps serving as the end of an era for the series, X-Force is a logical choice for the next chapter.

With practically every character from the X-Men film franchise involved with Days of Future Past, the big question on fans’ minds revolves around who will be featured in the X-Force movie and which new characters from Days of Future Past may continue on?

Chatting with /Film, Wadlow talked about his excitement for X-Force and revealed that him getting the job was in large part thanks to Mark Millar who’s serving as Fox’s Marvel movie consultant. Interestingly – and certainly by no means a coincidence – it’s Wadlow who Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn selected to takeover Kick-Ass 2 and it’s Vaughn who’s largely responsible for the story of X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. What that means is that Fox is building a team of creative talent who know each other and can work together to build a more unified continuity in the X-Men universe going forward.

“…I owe a lot of it to Mark. X-Force is something I’m incredibly passionate about and without his support it wouldn’t be happening.”

Original X-Force #1 Roster

Wadlow continues, teasing that fans may not be able to guess what characters will be featured in the film since there are multiple X-Force teams in Marvel Comics.

…I love the current incarnation, Uncanny X-Force. I love what Rob did in the nineties. I remember buying X-Force 1 and what I’ve really loved about the announcement that we are working on the movie is how excited people are by the potential, but also how curious they are like ‘What’s the line up?’ What’s interesting with X-Men, I mean they have an iconic lineup, so you know who is going to be in that movie, but X-Force it’s like ‘Who is it going to be?’ I love that people are guessing.”

Mark Millar chimes in, seemingly revealing that there will be five core characters:

“People are going to be dissecting every name as it gets released, so it’s will be so cool when you have your five.”

Throughout the Marvel Comics, there have been a few staples of the X-Force books, one of them being Cable, another being Warpath. Warpath is in X-Men: Days of Future Past so it’s a safe bet he’ll make the transition but the question on everyone’s mind is whether or not Cable – and his pals Deadpool and Domino – could be introduced in the X-Men film universe as well. One theory we have is that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine may end up being Cable since in the Ultimate Marvel Comics that is the case, and from the Days of Future Past footage showcased at Comic-Con, we did see a graying Wolverine, with some rather interesting futuristic costumes, travel back in time to meet the ’70s X-Men.

Uncanny X Force Which Five Characters Will Form The X Force Movie Roster?

The original X-Force team that branched out of the New Mutants comics featured a roster including Boomer, Cable, Cannonball, Copycat, Feral, Shatterstar and Warpath. The second volume featured with a similar roster, but also included Sunspot who we believe in is in X-Men: Days of Future Past as well. The latest incarnation of X-Force which launched as a black ops Wolverine-led assassination squad working for Cyclops, began with Caliban, Hepzibah, Warpath, Wolfsbane, Wolverine, X-23 but evolved into featuring Cable, Domino, Archangel and Deadpool. We’d expect a combination of the teams with the latest Uncanny X-Force being used as a good template, especially if Fox wants to introduce Deadpool without risking investing in a Deadpool solo feature, at least yet.

Who would you want to star in an X-Force movie?

Bryan Singer directs X-Men: Days of Future Past with newcomers Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Boo Boo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, Adan Canto, Josh Helman,  along with returning stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Halle Berry, Lucas Till, and Daniel Cudmore. James Marsden may be involved if witness reports are true.

The Wolverine releases July 26, 2013, X-Men: Days of Future Past on May 23, 2014.

  1. Cable, Warpath, Domino, Shatterstar, Wolfsbane, Boom Boom and Cannonball would be the way to go for the real fans.

Realistically, if you want to give it the best chance to sell…

  2. I think the subject of if Deadpool will be in it is interesting because they have filmed at least three minutes of test footage for the Deadpool film, so they could be busy with that and Ryan Reynolds may not be available. One possibility I thought of (If the previous statement is not a problem) is that they could make X-Force with Deadpool then follow up with Deadpools one-shot and one-shots for the characters that got the most attention, I feel like people will enjoy Cable a lot.

  3. 1. Cable
    2. Warpath
    3. X-23
    4. Psylocke
    5. Colossus

Leave Deadpool for later. maybe a villain who joins at the end

    • a billion times yes to this!

    • Absolutely brilliant!

    • You are a genius.

  5. 1. Cable
    2. Warpath
    3. Domino
    4. Shatterstar
    5. Deadpool

Have Wolverine be their mentor and use Archangel, Psylocke and X-23 in the sequel.

  6. the whole thing with warren’s transformation doesn’t need to be completely addressed at once. he can start off as the finished version and they can work backwards, eventually forming the story for when they address the apocalypse mythology in a future movie. similar to how marvel seeded the thanos myth early into their cinematic universe, where down the line the picture will be clearer and much more fully formed. and the public’s curiosity to this mystery power mover has been whetted.

wouldn’t surprise me if doop’s inclusion is concrete. and if they forego continuity and include that multi armed guy from the mlf over a psylocke or vanisher.

  7. Cable, Domino and Psyloke are MUST, and please no Wolverine. Thats enough, he already is protoganist on X1, X2, X3 and 2 solo movies.

    • Unfortunately I think Wolverine is the most likely to appear in the movies, X-Force is too big a risk without him in the movie. A lot of people are big fans of Hugh Jackman and he’s work, Wolverine is a dark character as well as being the most popular mutant character in the Marvel universe and Hugh Jackman himself announced that he was working with Bryan Singer on a small project.

    • I totally agree. Wolverine needs to retire. If anything they should just introduce X-23. It’s pretty much the same person. Fox needs to stop relying on Hugh Jackman to sell their movies. It’s not working anymore. The fans are wanting more

  8. Wolverine

give it an R rating and transplant some characters into a Deadpool movie to ease audiences in.

  9. Archangel!!!!!!!!!! After Iron Samurai they had better give me at least one damn character I like in the X-Force film.

    • We might get Angel but it will take a film to set up Archangel

  10. I’m excited about this even though I’ve read zero X-Force or X-Men comics.

    • I don’t think you have to have read the comics to watch the films, afterall most of the time it seems like the directors and writers haven’t read them.

  11. Cable

In a sequel, they could introduce X-23, explore Angel’s past and how he changed, introduce Deadpool and Sunspot or even Nightcrawler and Forge.

In a third movie, they could bring in Wolverine just to make it interesting but I would prefer that they introduce new characters.

  12. They’d never do Deadpool. Why? because all these starts need to have their faces shown. I give Urban mas credit for keeping Dredd true to form.

I say they just go with the guy who plays Dead Pool in Super Power Beat Down #8. Deadpool vs Batman. The guy has DP down pat.

Psylocke would be a casting quandary, but I’m pretty sure I know which way they’d go.

    • haha…you know thats not really the guy right. They simply dubbed over their voices with famous voice actors Kevin Conroy & Nolan North whose voiced almost every incarnation of animated deadpool lol. But Superhero beatdown is amazing & its often better done to me then alot of the movies.

    • Yes so much yes I loved it. The guy had the personality and his comedic sense down. God forbid they use Ryan Reynolds *shivers*

  13. Uncanny X Force For me is the Best Strike Team.

Deadpool became an official xforce member during Remender’s Run…
Psylocke would give Ninja sword fighting feel and being a psychis also helps
Wolverine is the BA of the group
Fantomex is the most mysterious assasin merc in xforce
Archangel somehow became the Co leader of Wolverine

Fantomex and Deadpool interactions in the comics were awesome..
love triangle of Angel,Psylocke and Fantomex
    Angel’s dual personality problem
Uncanny X Force Deadpool was the best Deadpool thanks to Remender
cause deadpool here is crazy but compassionate, killer but has conscience…
Wolverine here is Wolverine what can you ask for?

I think it is the Best way to go for FOX which is to follow The Comic in a way and Wolverine is there…

  14. Dr. Nemesis
    Boom Boom
    Dead Pool

  15. 1. Deadpool
    2. Cable
    3. Fantomex
    4. X-23
    5. Wolverine
I want to see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, but not a central character.

  16. I’m sure it’ll suck no matter who they use, yet it will still make a hundred million dollars because X-Nerds just can’t help themselves.

  17. X-Force DEADPOOL X23 Cable Domino Forge Wolverine Lady Death and bad guys Omega Red Doctor Doom Red Skull

  18. cable

Best combination for a movie about X-force.

  19. I sense there will be a movie about the New mutants as well.

  20. Good

    Omega Red

  21. Ok first no Wolverine (I’m sorry) and Deadpool I’d like to introduce as a villain/enemy first.
    Cable- Leader of the team.
Domino- Excellent marksman with Luck, plus romance for the lead.
Psylocke- Expert close range fighter and telepath. Plus brings diversity ala british and

Plus brings diversity.
Rictor- Demolition, can create seismic waves. Plus diversity.
Colossus- Muscle with metal armored skin!

  23. then need to do movies to introduce x-23, cable and deadpool
    it sould be

  24. Xforce should be
    Cannon ball
    Sunspot or warpath
    Villains should be
    Dead pool

  25. I think they will go with a more s*** roster though like

  26. PSYLOCKE !!!!But if they cast a Caucasian actress I’l boycott the movie. Maggie Q would be perfect!

    • Psylocke can be cast as a Caucasian if she is in her British body. But if she is in her Japanese body then you must cast an Asian.

  27. seeing that photo reminds me how much i hate rob’s artwork. dear lord. I think itd be a mistake not to put deadpool in this movie. Hes super popular at the moment and then they can branch off for a solo movie. Id also like to have psylocke and wolverine of course. Doesnt matter to me who the others are

  28. Here’s my line-up:

These guy would floor all competition.

  29. If this isn’t the 90′s X-Force I’m not interested.
Cable, Domino, Cannonball, Siryn, Sunspot, Rictor, Feral, Meltdown, Warpath and Shatterstar.
The incarnation featuring Wolverine, Psylocke, whoever that Fantomex guy is, Archangel, Deadpool, etc. is NOT X-Force.
Also, PLEASE keep Singer t.f. away from X-Men movies.
