Psylocke Deadpool Wolverine Archangle Uncanny X Force Which Five Characters Will Form The X Force Movie Roster?

Two weeks ago, reports of Fox’s interest in adapting X-Force into a future X-Men movie resurfaced and quickly became a reality with the confirmation that Kick-Ass 2 writer and director Jeff Wadlow was penning the screenplay. With X-Men: Days of Future Past potentially serving as a launchpad for the future of Fox’s own Marvel universe and perhaps serving as the end of an era for the series, X-Force is a logical choice for the next chapter.

With practically every character from the X-Men film franchise involved with Days of Future Past, the big question on fans’ minds revolves around who will be featured in the X-Force movie and which new characters from Days of Future Past may continue on?

Chatting with /Film, Wadlow talked about his excitement for X-Force and revealed that him getting the job was in large part thanks to Mark Millar who’s serving as Fox’s Marvel movie consultant. Interestingly – and certainly by no means a coincidence – it’s Wadlow who Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn selected to takeover Kick-Ass 2 and it’s Vaughn who’s largely responsible for the story of X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. What that means is that Fox is building a team of creative talent who know each other and can work together to build a more unified continuity in the X-Men universe going forward.

“…I owe a lot of it to Mark. X-Force is something I’m incredibly passionate about and without his support it wouldn’t be happening.”

Original X-Force #1 Roster

Wadlow continues, teasing that fans may not be able to guess what characters will be featured in the film since there are multiple X-Force teams in Marvel Comics.

…I love the current incarnation, Uncanny X-Force. I love what Rob did in the nineties. I remember buying X-Force 1 and what I’ve really loved about the announcement that we are working on the movie is how excited people are by the potential, but also how curious they are like ‘What’s the line up?’ What’s interesting with X-Men, I mean they have an iconic lineup, so you know who is going to be in that movie, but X-Force it’s like ‘Who is it going to be?’ I love that people are guessing.”

Mark Millar chimes in, seemingly revealing that there will be five core characters:

“People are going to be dissecting every name as it gets released, so it’s will be so cool when you have your five.”

Throughout the Marvel Comics, there have been a few staples of the X-Force books, one of them being Cable, another being Warpath. Warpath is in X-Men: Days of Future Past so it’s a safe bet he’ll make the transition but the question on everyone’s mind is whether or not Cable – and his pals Deadpool and Domino – could be introduced in the X-Men film universe as well. One theory we have is that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine may end up being Cable since in the Ultimate Marvel Comics that is the case, and from the Days of Future Past footage showcased at Comic-Con, we did see a graying Wolverine, with some rather interesting futuristic costumes, travel back in time to meet the ’70s X-Men.

Uncanny X Force Which Five Characters Will Form The X Force Movie Roster?

The original X-Force team that branched out of the New Mutants comics featured a roster including Boomer, Cable, Cannonball, Copycat, Feral, Shatterstar and Warpath. The second volume featured with a similar roster, but also included Sunspot who we believe in is in X-Men: Days of Future Past as well. The latest incarnation of X-Force which launched as a black ops Wolverine-led assassination squad working for Cyclops, began with Caliban, Hepzibah, Warpath, Wolfsbane, Wolverine, X-23 but evolved into featuring Cable, Domino, Archangel and Deadpool. We’d expect a combination of the teams with the latest Uncanny X-Force being used as a good template, especially if Fox wants to introduce Deadpool without risking investing in a Deadpool solo feature, at least yet.

Who would you want to star in an X-Force movie?

Bryan Singer directs X-Men: Days of Future Past with newcomers Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Boo Boo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, Adan Canto, Josh Helman,  along with returning stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Halle Berry, Lucas Till, and Daniel Cudmore. James Marsden may be involved if witness reports are true.

The Wolverine releases July 26, 2013, X-Men: Days of Future Past on May 23, 2014.

  1. So many choices.. Hmm here’s my picks:

    1) Warpath (him being confirmed in DofP, it’s pretty much a given)
    2) psylocke – She’s overdue for a legit intro
    3) Domino – another cool character.
    4) Cable.. Or I guess Wolverine meh
    5) Deadpool.. That would balance that team out and make it interesting.

others) archangel (potentially not initially but if they follow with Apocalypse and his horsemen, then we could get an upgraded, metal wings and all regecting his programming and coming back to the good guys.. Just a thought

    • wait, wait…how can FOX do an X-Force movie with the current uncanny X-force line up and make them a hit squad????? arent they worried about how poorly The Wolverine did (considering its darker subject matter). Just a thought.

    • Ron Pearlman for Cable????

  2. My picks (also influenced by casting in Days of Future Past):

    1. Cable (not Wolverine-as-Cable, actual Cable);
    2. Deadpool;
    3. Fantomex;
    4. Psylocke;
    5. Warpath.

I would also like to see Archangel and Domino as occasional members, and yes, X-23 and Berserker too.

  3. I hope Wolverine isn’t going to be Cable. I’d rather he were his own character and I’d like for these movies to stop being “Wolverine and, oh yeah, some X-Men.” Having two Wolverines wouldn’t help that. I think classic Cable would be a much better addition.

AS for the actual Lineup I’m hoping Deadpool finally gets some good screen time along with Wolverine and Cable. After that they can add anyone they want.

    • Lol

    • I concure

    • WAIT!… How bout Deadpool?!

  4. Wolverine, Cable, deadpool, Warpath, and X-23 with someone else giving them comands

  5. I only care about 3 in particular:
Cable – the real deal Cable, not Wolverine
Other than that, I don’t care. I hope it’s a step towards Deadpool getting his own movie.

  6. If not X-23 I would love to see them bring back anna paquinn to play rouge again

  7. Domino, Cable, Deadpool, Warpath & X-23 would be perfect. I’m loving the Uncanny X-Force story line though.

  8. Would love to see these core 5:

    1. Wolverine
    2. Fantomex
    3. Deadpool
    4. Domino
    5. X-23

With supporting roles/cameos by: Cable, Warpath, Psylocke, Nightcrawler.

Honestly, the roster doesn’t matter all that much as long as they do the team justice. I do want to see the new Wolverine team though, thst take on the team, anyways. Black-ops assassins. Would love to see the storyline where they go back in time to meet kid Apocalypse.

  9. As long as Deadpool’s in the thing, I’m happy.
They;ll probably throw in Wolverine as well, to help sell tickets.

    • Well if they tell people that Deadpool is Ryan Reynolds that will help too since he’s popular and what not

  10. Hmm…Im pretty sure there gonna include Wolverine…but I want real Cabel so…

I could picture them doing that. Or maybe, I would like no Wolverine so hope they switch him for somebody else.

  11. Deadpool, Psylocke and X23… those are all I really want to see.
Plus I hope they will stick with better continuity with this movie… there plenty of cast change for the minor mutants in the first trilogy, and that’s actually annoying.

  12. 1. Cable
    2. Deadpool
    3. Domino
    4. Sunspot
    5. Psylocke

  13. Am I the only one who enjoyed first class and thought they should just propress from there. Show how the school was built who was on the team and the conflict with brotherhood in the historical context of the 60′s-70′s.

    • I thought the movie was ok but after leaving the cinema at the end credits, I felt like they could’ve done so much more with it, including sticking a little closer to continuity.

    • I’m pretty sure the whole basis behind Days of Future Past is to fix the timeline due to the success of First Class.

    • Yeah, I am with you on that, Peter.

  14. i wont see it if deadpool isnt in it

  15. 1. Cable (the REAL Cable)
    2. Domino
    3. Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds, for continuity reasons)
    4. Warpath (same actor as DOFP)
    5. Sunspot (=)

Personally, Id add Boom boom, and Deadpool acting as a villain during the first act, but then becoming an ally at the end of the movie.

I wouldnt mind just one girl on the team, as long as its Domino, but if they want another one, Id be fine with Boomboom or Wolfsbane

    • True… Cable for sure. But maybe introduce Deadpool as an enemy or as a cameo roll. Character as popular as Deadpool has to and needs to have his own movie.
      nuff said!

  16. wolverine will not be in this. i know it.

i think deadpool should be in it but he should be the deadpool from the x force. in x force he was more serious. he could be great.

    Cable of course

    x 23

and i wanna say archangel but that wont happen so warpath.

  17. Whoa whoa whoa, don’t you guys remember Psylocke got disintegrated in X3, we don’t want to jumble up this cohesive continuity now.

    • She was in X3?

  18. I do agree that everyone wants Deadpool in a future movie, from all these posts and more.

And as a fan of the character (he is my absolute favorite character as far as US comic books are concerned), I could not agree more with the desire(s).

However, I would also like Cable there, and Psylocke. Those three are the ones that fans can instantly adore for what they are. AND they deserve more attention.

  19. Deadpool
    And… Gambit. (I know… I know.)

    • Deadpool not in X-Force… it would be way better to see him in his own stand alone movie. Oh and Gambit… he needs his own movie to!!!

  20. Vin Diesel as Cable!

    • Dye Karl Urban’s hair white and suit him up as Cable.

      • I like Urban but he’s a little thin. Suggested Diesel because of the build and the voice.

  21. They may just put 5 random characters in the movie, casual fans will not know the difference. The fact there have been so many different variations of the team might mean some comic book readers will not recognize some members of the team.

  22. I’d like to see the Uncanny X-Force, Wolverine, Psylocke, Angel, Deadpool and Fantomex would be a good team. Also you’d only need to establish Fantomex seeing as the other four characters have all been in the X-Men films at one point or another.

  23. First of all X-Force will not be X-Force if Cable isn’t in it… It’s almost like having X-Men first class without Cyclops… wait they did do first class without Cyclops (and I hated it for it). Would of been a way better movie with the real first class. Cable’s X-Force will be way better to see than Wolverine’s X-Force. Anyways here are my 5 X-Force members I would like to see.
    1) Cable… leader of team… a must have!
    2) Warpath… every team needs a strong guy.
    3) Sunspot… he would make a great CG character when he used his power.
    4) Domino… Have to appeal to the ladies and teenage boys.
    5) Shatterstar… how cool would it be to see him kick some @$$?

and if I were to have a 6th member it would have to be Cannonball… he was a great leader of X-Force when Cable was away and was the first X-Force member to join the X-Men roster.

    • First Class was good because it didn’t have Cyclops in it. The Professor should have replaced Cyclops with Havoc from the beginning.

      • We must of not watched the same movie. If we are… it could of been way better… Magneto and Xavier were great… not so much for the rest of the cast. (Any true X-Men comic book fan knows that Cyclops is the X-Men)

        • Or we both different tastes? Cyclops is a big part of the X-Men, he’s also annoying, highly critical of everyone he meets and just irritating. Astonishing X-Men is basically Cyclops slowly turning into a more annoying Magneto.

          • You may be right!!! I just think he’s a bad ass! But this is all about X-Force and I can’t wait to see it on the big screen!

            • Maybe the original run of X-Men paints Cyclops in a better light but in Astonishing X-Men he’s either letting everyone else do the fighting for him or he’s being an outright psycho (I’m referring to Cyclops threatening to kill the mayor of San Francisco in Fear Itself)

I just think he’s one of those characters who are so critical of other people that they act like their incapable of fault. He acts as though he’s above Wolverine, he works Hope to death and even though the guy is basically with Emma Frost as a couple he still treats her like a Villain. I mean he’s only friends are Namor (who’s more or less just putting up with Scott), Emma Frost, Colossus, Magneto and Magik and that’s only because their the only X-Men who can put up with the guy’s snide remarks about them.

I mean if you had a group of friends and one of your friends just constantly when talking to others just went on about how you and your other friends were a**holes and how he didn’t want to be around you guys since it’d make him an a**hole by proxy.

Would you consider that person a good friend?

        • I love X-Men and disagree, always disliked Cyclops. I also really disliked him the way he was portrayed in the first 3 X-Men movies. But, he is a big part of X-Men and should at least be in DOFP. And the cast of first class was great, Lawrence and Hoult did great jobs as well as Magneto and Xavier.

          • Yeah I hated that, I don’t like Cyclops as a character but in the X-Men films he was reduced to a jealous boyfriend. It was like they just had

            • Good one JamesF… that pretty much sums up Cyclops in the X-Men movies. Good one!
But the comic book Cyk is much much more than that… I’ll just leave it at that… Movie Cyclops sucks (Good Actor James Marsden) but comic book Cyclops is the X-Men!

              • That is true, I’d much rather have them make Cyclops the leader of the X-Men like in Astonishing X-Men. You got to see more of Cyclops’ character.

  24. 1) Cable
    2) Warpath
    3) Cannonball
    4) Domino
    5) Sunspot/Boom-Boom/Psylocke (Can’t pick between them)

I want Deadpool to start out a mercenary or vigilante before joining the team as the movie progresses. 5 is not enough

    • Great pics… 5th spot is a toss up between two of them. Psylocke has to be with the X-Men.

  25. Cable

    • Great picks!

  26. wolverine

  27. Why does every time i hear deadpool name it just reminds me of JUSTSOME RANDOM GUY MARVEL VS DC VIDEOS ROSCHARCH AND DEADPOOL SKITS :+
