It’s being reported by Comingsoon.net (now picked up by Ain’t It Cool News) that on December 10, 2007, the sequel to the successful X-Files movie (and television show) will begin production, presumably for a 2008 release.
Consider this a rumor for now, but if it’s true, I’d say part of the reason for starting production after nearly a decade, is because of the Writers Guild strike that will likely happen this Thursday, November 1, 2007, along with potential Actors Guild and Directors Guild strikes next July. Studios need as many movies as possible, to avoid a complete drought of new flicks. I plan on updating the Writers Guild strike very soon, so stay tuned!
(For the record, I’m excited about the return of X-Files.)

Heath, not to rain on your parade but I couldn’t care less about another X-Files movie. It’s probably a good thing that you got to writing about this first, because if I had created the post it would have had a VERY different spin.

I’ve been talking to some genre (sci fi, etc.) fan friends of mine, and wow, they’re all echoing you guys. Guess there’s a backlash! I wonder if we’ll see that with Lost?
