Ouch! I’d be surprised if it pulls a Terminator 3 and is a suprisingly good flick.

I’m seriously thinking of re-launching my fan club. Yeah, I was a bit obsessed for a few years there. But in all seriousness, I’m happy to hear that this is not only being made but will get a theatrical release. I have my fingers crossed for an appearance by the Lone Gunmen.

You know, the only hope for this thing is if (as I think Heath mentioned somewhere) this is a standalone story, having nothing to do with continuity of the series.

Even then… a theatrical release?

I watched X-Files when it first came out, but only a few episodes at a time. I don’t know why, but I’ve never been a big TV person. Saw the movie opening night, didn’t fully understand everything, because I was out of the loop. Watched the last episode (none of the Lone Gunmen, though), didn’t hate it.

What changed everything for me was around the New Year, 2003, and I watched the pilot and second episode on TNT late at night. I was hooked like it was 1993! I bought the first DVD season (with a bad disc, natch–I’ll probably buy another season 1), but haven’t finished it. Five years later. Yeah, yeah, I stink.

Anyway, since the end of the year is usually quiet for me, leading up to the Holidays, I’m going to just start watching old episodes on DVD. I have 6 seasons on DVD, and will try to get the rest.

And yes, the rumor, Vic, is that it’ll be a supernatural thriller, and a standalone movie.

I never was a huge fan but there were a few episodes from the series that were excellent. One had to do with werewolves I think, it had Mulder and Scully each giving their boss a version of what had happened on a case and it was from each of their POV. It was really funny. The other had Mulder investigating a housing development where odd things were happening and that also had me laughing. Both episodes were really good but I don’t remember them tying into the overall story archs.

I think this is great news. The X-files was a great show and could have gone another 4 seasons easy! I hope if they do a stand alone episode they end it on somekind of clifhanger regaurding the conspiracy arc that seems to never end.
You know the one about our government working with aliens to dominate the world and wipe out half the population. With the state of the world I can see how they could work this into the story ending.
What I’m trying to type is that,,
I will pay money to see this film.
Thanks Chris Carter and David D for making this happen!

Are you kidding me? Ofcourse a movie based on one of the biggest shows of the nineties will get a theatrical release! Fans have been gagging for this for years! I’m sorry, but to suggest this movie should go straight to dvd is just moronic. And for someone who “doesn’t care” about this movie you sure talk about it a lot.

Tom,

First: Be careful throwing around words like “moronic.” We’ll see who’s right when this finally hits movie theaters as far as box office.

Second: Their are other writers on this site who are covering this film who happen to be fans of the series. I’m not writing all the X-Files articles.

I don’t have a problem with opposing opinions as long as you don’t get personal.
