I’m debating whether to add a forum to Screen Rant. I don’t have anything as fancy as a poll, but I’d like to know whether you’d like to see a forum here on the site in addition to having the ability to comment on posts.
It would of course have movie and TV categories, general and specific to individual movies and TV series, but I could add other topics as well like comics or general discussion.
I really enjoy the back and forth when you leave comments here on the site so I’d be more than happy to host a forum where we can talk about our favorite movies and TV shows at length. 
I’d like to hear from you on this, so if you have an opinion either way, please leave a comment below with your thoughts.

I’m divided, but not for reasons that concern this site per-se. Without a doubt, I think a forum is great for a site like this (well-moderated, of course. Some faction of movie geeks always seem to take it two or three steps over the line of decent conversation).

I know EXACTLY what you mean.
In regards to moderating, I have a VERY low threshold for any sort of abusive comments or language. I’ve deleted quite a few comments here that have crossed the line IMO.

And for me, I’m just not a BB gal. I love the commenting feature but I hate having to make more time to follow conversations on a board and then, if I take some time off, having to read through everything to get back ‘in the loop’. However, as with jerseycajun, I’d probably register.
Thanks, Marina. Usually when I visit a forum regularly I’m a big user of the “New Posts Since Last Visit” feature. Makes it a lot easier to see what’s new at a glance.

If the season finale measures up to or (somehow impossibly) surpasses tonights episode, I’m gonna need a lot of board space to talk about it!

I do have a couple of concerns…
1. There are few things sadder than a forum with very few posts and members. I don’t know what it’s like to start up a forum, but I can see how it would be possible for one to die very quickly. I’d hate to set one up and have it be the online equivalent of a ghost town.
2. If the above item turns out to NOT be a problem and the forum flourishes, I’m concerned with the amount of time it might take to moderate it and reply to posts. It takes me long enough already just to post new items and reply to comments on the main site.

I personally think a forum would be excellent. It would give everyone a place to discuss everything we have on our minds. I would be on it quite a lot. But that’s just me.

I’m all for the idea of a forum. That way, people will have two different places to call me a clueless moron and make death threats against me.
