12 Comics That Should Never Become Live-Action Movies
For decades comic book fans knew the colorful pages of ink they loved so much held plenty of material for Hollywood to adapt, but all they got were a handful of TV shows, made-for-TV movies and the occasional theatrical release - with only "top tier" characters receiving the big screen treatment.
Now, Hollywood is tripping over itself to option a more diverse group of comics and graphic novels, but for every success like The Avengers or The Dark Knight, there are failures like Jonah Hex, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night and Howard the Duck.
Some comics from yesteryear are barely worth reading - much less bringing to life for an audience to watch, so we've put together a list of 12 Comics We Think Should Never Become Live-Action Films.
This list is comprised of comic book series, graphic novels or graphic miniseries (both good and bad) and does not list individual lame superheroes like The Whizzer, Slapstick and Arm Fall Off Boy.
Yes! Do it! One of the best shows of my early childhood. No seriously. I’m all for it. Freakazoid, Animaniacs, and Pinky and the Brain. Three best cartoons ever back then.
I was laughing my head off the whole time i was reading this. Especially when I read about the Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters teaming up with the Naïve Inter-Dimensional Commando Koalas. I can honestly say that that was one of the most interesting things I have ever read.
Some of these (Marville, the Fat Fury) actually sound ruthlessly interesting. I think it would be awesome, eventually, if they started making superhero movies that were incredibly bizarre or absurd. Mix things up.
Once upon a time back in the 80s, there were some very sick yet courageous folks who made this B-film series called Nercomantik. Hey, those folks could handle Tarot with their eyes closed.
Who owns the rights to the Gormandizer now? That would be a hilarious comedy film premise. I’m an actor in Chicago, and I know a few folks who just might enjoy grabbing that one and makinh an indie film!
Personally I’d be totally down with a Love & Rockets film, but I’m not worried about it happening any time soon, or even done badly. Hollywood is never going to make a sci-fi film with lesbian overtones with that many Latinos on the screen at one time.
Speaking of silly supheroes, how about a “Freakazoid” movie?!?!

I’m down with Freakazoid
I like where ur heads at man;)
Dude I loved Freakazoid
If it were done in the vein of “The Mask” it could be awesome!
Speedball, another lame one. Krypto, the superdog… I don’t think I’d go see that either.

Dang it was really hoping Aquaman made the list oh well.
Geoff Johns!
Nuff said
Not surprised Robert Crumb was involved in the nun comic.
I’m surprised Spielberg hasn’t opted for a Freakazoid movie since the cartoon was so popular back in the day (still hilarious to this day).
Talking of hilarious superhero cartoons……The Tick by any chance?
SPOOOOOOOOOOOON!!
The Tick would be so awesome and they should get Patrick Warburton as The Tick again!!
Anyone up for a Swat Kats movie?
Not really but the theme music was badass.
Actually if you just call the first one Hansi, it could possibly be a really good movie…
never even heard of any of these comics that were mentioned in article
What’s wrong with the first Ninja Turtles movie?! It’s probably the most faithful adaption of a CBM to date…

Man oh man! Comics can be scary. Leather Nun is sure to haunt my dreams. Great article though
that Shoogahfoots sounds incredibly offensive to Southern people. I’m from the south and I’m not an idiot

Or…
What’s Tom Six up to these days :p
By the way, as for whether or not I actually seen the Necro flicks, no comment.
A tarot movie. Meowwww! LOL!

That captain titanic cover is my new wallpaper, oh my god that is one of the single greatest images ever
There’s definitely a demographic in the U.S. that might identify with the Fat Fury.
Sadly, I think they did make the #1 comic about the Shoogahfoots into a TV series since it sounds strangely familiar to “Married with Children”…
i think i saw fat fury at wal mart the other day. Looked just like him, but riding a rascal.
please any one watch swatkats movie? i love t-bone and razor
