  1. Easily my most anticipated POD cast from you guys…

    • I agree! :)

    • +1

  2. That raccoon gif is kind of hypnotic.

    • Yeah, try to follow the eyes all the way down the stairs.

I’m curious what comes flying out of the raccoon’s hand – probably fluff from Rose’s poodle?

      • Maybe a farewell note addressed to the raccoon’s wife and kids?

The cut is so smooth that it kind of looks like Kevin Rose just has a big basket of raccoons behind him and is throwing them down the stairs one by one.

        • He’s basically the ‘I Am Legend’ of the raccoon universe. (and yep, I’m going with dog fur…. I hope)

            • Looks like he asked for it from that angle.

            • HA!

  3. I just cannot get enough of that Raccoon GIF…. holy S**t is that funny, I love the coons glowing eyes as he descends into the alley

  4. Alrighty, then. Downloading to listen to later.

Great to have Hanna onboard too to help out this week.
Caught a quick preview and you have a lovely voice, Hanna.

  5. I am holding back laughing at the racoon
GIF thinking the little guy may not
have come out in one piece.

    • Haha I thought the same at first, but Rose confirmed the raccoon ran off. Even PETA said they felt he was in the right.

      Everybody wins!

      • Say thanks, Andrew. I’ll let myself laugh now :D

      • Saw the whole video when it came out on Youtube. I would also say the guy’s in the right. The raccoon was just tearing the dog to pieces. It was weird seeing the raccoon being thrown around twice, I felt bad and happy at the same time lol.

  6. Comment ninjas. Nice Kofi.

Ben Affleck is a comic guy with comic friends. Guess what, the only way Superman/Batman REALLY works… is if you go comic.

Affleck, Synder and Co are going to make it a POINT to BLOW EVERYONE AWAY!!!!

  7. Sorry Kofi, but if Marvel would have made as large of a mistake as WB has just done in casting Ben Affleck as Batman, the internet would have blown up just the same.

Take your DC colored glasses off for once and be objective.

WB and their fledgling DCCU have made a mistake that it can’t recover from.
We as fans wait years from these two to be together on screen and this is what they give us, Henry Cavil and Ben Affleck?

As far as Ben being a great choice because “nobody would suspect him as being Batman”, that’s just ridiculous. To not be suspected of being Batman in the movie is great yes, but don’t confuse that with the reality of him being totally miscast as Batman. They needed to cast somebody that can be believable as Batman, and they haven’t done that.

    • I wouldnt say he is a miscast cause we have yet to see anything from the film. Also im extatic the DCU has Henry Cavill

    • Hope you’re ready in two years when this comment comes back to bite you in the ass. Better to be an open minded neutral than a naysayer (I’m cautiously optimistic myself).

    • Kofi’s analysis is balanced and objectively on the money.
The viewpoints of reactionaries are hysterical and unreliable.
Grown ups are in charge at DC who know what they are doing.

    • Remember:

Kofi will find you. In a wolf mask. He remembers.

    • What color are DC colored glasses? Will DC block UV and allow us to see in HD? We need answers ASAP!

  8. I think Batfleck vs Superman will be alright. My only concerns it that 1: Ben Affleck is such a big actor, I’m just afraid that he’ll end up pulling me out of the movie and be a distraction. 2: I don’t see Ben Affleck signing on for multi picture contracts for an entire DC Cinematic Universe. Not like that will ever happen, but still a concern.

  9. I could really see that guy from Teen Wolf as Terry McGuinness though.

  10. I’m glad y’all are keeping your cool about the whole Batleck announcement. So many people, including media websites, are losing their s***, but I guess it’s just a testament to how the g****** batman is beloved.

  11. Ben Affleck will be fine as Batman. I have no doubt about it.

Whenever the discussion comes up whether or not a certain director is suitable for a project, based on his previous work, I always have to think about Peter Jackson. After seeing his previous work (Dead Alive/Braindead, Meet the Feebles etc) would you have thought that he would be the right guy for a project like the Lord of the Rings trilogy? I wouldn’t.

Rocket Raccoon is, well, a raccoon, a species indigenous to Earth. So he might as well have a Cockney accent. :D

    • Peter Jackson movies are so bloated IMO. lord of the rings coulda been cut by 30-45 minutes easy and an hour on the last one. And king kong was dreadful to watch due to its length.

    • Heavenly Creatures too. I remember being interested in PJ LOTR, and at least we knew he had a lot of ideas for the effects, and he was obviously a passionate film geek who was making well received movies. But really, what was the expectation for that movie? It seemed like for the most part it came in under the radar and then caught fire.

This project is in no way “under the radar.” And no matter how good Batfleck turns out to be, he brings a lot of Bagfleckage.

  12. I absolutely love that you guys added the “KAAAAAW” in the spoiler alert audio. Amazing. Keep it!!!

  13. It would’ve been so funny if you guys didn’t talk about the Batman casting at all this podcast, just for the fact that we all wanted you to. :P

    • 30 minutes talking about the Rambo TV show then, “There’s also some news about the Superman vs. Batman movie, but unfortunately we’re out of time”

  14. One direction
    The butler
    We’re the millers
    The mortal ins

  15. I guess I fall into the “Its hard to see Ben as Batman” camp. I’ve just seen him in so many roles going back to the 90′s , so its gonna be hard for me to see Batman on the big screen as opposed to seeing Ben Affleck in a Batman suit. I guess that’s one of the reasons I was on the Armitage/Urban train for the role. That said, I do think alot of the younger kids who go and see BvS are gonna come to the film with a clean slate and without the baggage of knowing about Affleck the personality , film actor etc. Of course I’m gonna freaking be there opening day since I think the film could be really good if done right.

  16. Seriously guys. I was only so-so when I first heard the news, but now I’m am completely rooting for Affleck to be awesome if only to SHUT PEOPLE UP! OMG you people are all so annoying! All this doom and gloom makes me want to smash my laptop with a sledgehammer. Jeesh, if you want to make petitions and stuff there are WAY more important causes (Hello, Egypt and Syria!) I love Batman and I’m not going to write him off just because of the actor casted! I’m going to hold my judgement until AFTER I see the movie. So please, just take a deep breath, and realize this isn’t the end of the world as we know it. (There, all of my frustration over the past few days has been vented.)

  17. Love the podcast guys. However, I wish Kofi would quit the condescending attitude. He attacks the internet’s negative reaction to the Batfleck news (and rightfully so), but he ends up coming off just as juvenile and myopic as the haters themselves. I’m glad Ben was able to step in and clarify the argument.

I appreciate the casual and fraternal tone of the podcast, but it has to be balanced with professionalism. I think Ben Kendrick and Rob Keyes strike a great balance between the two, and even when I don’t agree with them, I respect their opinions. Keep up the great work!

    • Should I set a wedding date for you and Ben and Rob?

We all have roles to play – fascist black dictator is mine.

Rest assured that I hate you too, Brian C. ;-)

  18. Oh man Kofi blew my mind when he talked about Ben Affleck doing a good detective Batman story and the Hush story was what came to mind.

  19. I think you guys forgot the most exciting aspect of Affleck joining the movie is that he’s an Oscar winning screenwriter and he might be able to punch up the script and add more character moments for the movie.

I think my reaction to the casting of Ben Affleck is “oh that’s an interesting decision.” I guess I was hoping for a relative unknown or even Karl Urban but I like Affleck. I do think him being Batman/Bruce my take me out of the movie a little I guess I’ll have to wait and see the trailer to be sure.

  20. Hot Fuzz is probably my favorite out of the trilogy, but I liked The Worlds End, hopefully theyre all released in a box set.

Dont give up Supernatural Ben, you need to catch up before season 9.

    5. Mortal
    10. Elysium

  22. First, British accents are awesome.

It will be interesting to see if Affleck signs on for multiple films. Personally, I don’t peg him as the kind of guy who would agree to a Marvel Studios type mega deal at this point in his career, but who knows? At this point, anything is possible. I really enjoyed your discussion on Man of Steel 2. I wasn’t so sure about it when it was first announced at Comic-Con, but now I’m on board with it and excited about the possibilities.

  23. My wife and I started watching Orange is the New Black yesterday (the day before I listened to this podcast) and after the first episode ended, she looked at me and said “want to watch another one?” So far, we’ve enjoyed it. I found it funny that Andrew was raving about it the day after I started watching it.

    • Haha PROOF.
