I am really looking forward to this. WOW has so many really interesting, well-written, ongoing story lines that I just hope Raimi picks one of them rather than creating his own.

This movie could be real sweet if Raimi does it right. He is one of the biggest names to attach himself to a video game adaptation but considering how much cash blizzard has made I am not surprised that hollywood caught on and decided to cash in on this megahit. I personally played WoW alot when it first came out and still sometimes play Warcraft 3 (One of the best games ever). But I found that wayyyy too much time had to be invested in WoW to be average. I do admit the game being extremely addicting like crack and it kept me up many nights. But as I grew up and went to college I decided I would rather have a life outside the game rather than in it. But I have always loved the lore of Warcraft and the similarities with LOTR. I don't know where the story in the movie could go since WoW is an MMORPG and doesn't really have a cohesive story but I would enjoy seeing the events from Warcraft 3 and frozen throne unfold onscreen. Including the elves are essential and I really hope we get to see Illidan Stormrage who is the greatest character in warcraft to me. Of course I'ld love to see other characters like Thrall and Grom hellscream as well as Prince Kael a Thas of the Blood Elves. Also I'd like to see depth given to all the races at some point because that is what makes warcraft so awesome. Obviously the Alliance vs. Horde theme will be big but I want to see both sides equally instead of being told from a single perspective. I don't think they should do 2 movies tho that just seems a little much. Oh and I hope evil dead gets pushed back so we can see spidey 4 and WoW. I have high hopes for this as well as spidey 4. He knows spidey 3 sucked so do you really think he is going to put out something worse? He isn't a moron and the studio really tookover and rammed shit down his throat about how to direct his movie.

I could care less about Warcraft film or the game itself, but maybe we will get lucky and Raimi will drop out of making "Spiderman 4" and go ahead and make this instead.

@ Doom3524

That was one of the things that discouraged me from playing WoW, lol. I might still go back to it sometimes, but I didn't like the whole "war" mindset they had going on between two factions. Every time I go to a city, there's always raids of some kind and it's just a bit annoying. Or, if I'm at Stormwind or outside it at the local village, there's people dueling each other and it looks like a war going on. It really is too much PvPing for my tastes.

Well, I know it is called WARCRAFT, but meh. ;)

Joshi,

I am still waiting for them to allow Horde and Alliance players to actually work together in game. I am hoping that maybe they allow that for Arthas, but I am not holding my breath. I think that he is a big enough evil for everyone to put their differences aside and to team up (as we have seen in the Wrathgate video you spoke of). Let there be a quest that lets you speak to the opposite faction only in Dalaran and Icecrown (maybe a gnomish translating device that you get at the end of the quest chain) and let people team up to take Arthas down. That would be pretty exciting in my opinion.

I only stopped playing a few months back and from what I remember, most people didn't much care about which side they were on, only that they were on one. Today I'm Alliance and will fight back the Horde with all my might and my level 17 Immolate... tomorrow I'll hop over to another server play the Horde side and destroy the Alliance with great vengeance and furious Frost Bolt. Most people switched sides too much to get any kind of invested interest in either one. Yes some have preferences (most who taste both enjoy the Horde more than Alliance), but overall, not many really care enough.

And I wasn't really thinking about a straight Alliance Vs Horde movie, as you say, despite the factions, they worked towards the same end. One of my favorite parts of WoW was in Lich King where both factions, for a brief period, get together to fight the Lich King (okay, so the tail end of that cutscene didn't work out too well for all 3 parties, but still...). That's what the movie should be about, the two factions realising that they need to form a Union in order to fight off the greater good (not necessariy the Lich King but... well whoever).

See, I think thats the big misconception. Although yes, the Horde and Alliance are at "war" most everything they try to accomplish have the same end. I think the double faction movie concept could show the different means to get to that same end. I think a straight Horde vs. Alliance movie would....

A) be too much biased toward one side than the other, and half (probably more likely the Horde half) would leave the movie angry that their side got beat down.

B) leave people wanting more of a background for the main characters from the faction not spotlighted

C) be too oblivious to the larger threats of Azeroth

As apparently a fellow player of the game you know how passionate we can be about our faction (I am alliance myself) and giving both sides their just due would be the best way to go in my opinion. Again, everything at this point is opinion based since all we know is that Raimi is directing it.

See, I think thats the big misconception. Although yes, the Horde and Alliance are at “war” most everything they try to accomplish have the same end. I think the double faction movie concept could show the different means to get to that same end. I think a straight Horde vs. Alliance movie would….

Having two movies would certainly bring in more money for the studio, but otherwise it'd just be a gimmick that'd annoy more than be a decent idea. Plus any WoW movie worth it's salt would be able to deal with the Alliance Vs Horde thing in a way that's fairly faithful and satisfying for both sides.
