Warning: This post contains SPOILERS for She-Hulk episode 1!Marvel Studios is totally setting up a World War Hulks movie now after She-Hulk: Attorney At Law episode 1. Rumors have circulated for the last year or so that the Marvel Cinematic Universe was considering giving Hulk a major event film. The comic's version of World War Hulk saw Hulk return to Earth after being banished by The Illuminati and going to war with the Avengers. Understandably, speculation about that storyline becoming a movie generated some excitement. She-Hulk is already backing up the notion that a Hulk event movie is on the horizon, but it might be slightly different from what audiences expect.

Even after the MCU introduced the Illuminati through the multiverse in Phase 4, neither Hulk nor the MCU are in the right place for a World War Hulk movie. The first episode of She-Hulk takes significant steps towards setting up a new Hulk movie, as Smart Hulk's arm is fully healed. It might also be tempting to interpret the Sakaaran spaceship as a tease that Hulk's son and World War Hulk are coming. These are both surely pieces to Marvel's plan for Hulk going forward, but adapting Greg Pak's 2007 comic event might not be the end goal. Another She-Hulk line indicates that the MCU is likely planning a World War Hulks movie, adapting Pak's 2010 follow-up event.

The She-Hulk episode 1 tease in question comes from Smart Hulk. After he explains more about She-Hulk's powers and her special DNA, he uses an advanced laser system to destroy the remaining vials of Jennifer's blood. Smart Hulk explains why he is so meticulous about destroying Hulk blood samples by warning that it needs to be done “even if there’s only a millionth percent chance of it making another one of us.” For those unfamiliar, Pak's World War Hulks comic event follows the origin of Red Hulk and depowering of Bruce Banner. It also focuses on Red Hulk wanting to create an army of Hulks to take over the world. Now that She-Hulk is also part of the MCU, the chances of Hulk blood falling into the wrong hands has become more possible. Such an event could be what kicks off a World War Hulks MCU movie.

How World War Hulks Could Fit Into The Multiverse Saga

Marvel's World War Hulks movie could become another massive entry in the Multiverse Saga. The film would not need to be directly connected to the multiverse and include Hulk variants from other universes, but it would still be a major event to unfold right around the same time Kang arrives. Smart Hulk returning to his complete form opens the door for him to be the protagonist of such a movie. Viewers could see either Smart Hulk or She-Hulk lose their powers and fight to get them back as a version of Red Hulk is created in the MCU. World War Hulks would be the perfect place for Hulk's son Skaar to then appear or even include Hulked-out versions of other Marvel characters.

Since World War Hulks is not officially announced, it is unclear if it will be part of the Multiverse Saga. The Phase 5 slate is already fully announced, but there are open release dates in Phase 6 still. If Marvel wants to have World War Hulks be part of the Multiverse Saga, the movie would either have to come out a few months before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or between it and Avengers: Secret Wars. Either is still possible and bring Hulk and She-Hulk back for major roles after She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.
