The Yanks being in the series was the reason for the huge jump in ratings. Look at the ratings of last years when the Yanks nor the Red Sox were in the WS against Philly. Unless you were a Philly fan you could care less who won. Yes Utley was going crazy tying Reggie Jackson for most hrs in a world series, but that wasnt the reason for the boost. Yanks havent been in the series since 2003 and havent won since 2000. Theres a big fan bse over the country for the Yanks just like for the Sox. Some people tune in to see if they will choke or win the game. If it went to game would have been the highest out of all the games i bet.

Haha. I’m a baseball fan and I can laugh at Mike E’s comments. We do kind of come off as A-holes around the world, and the Yankees are the most cocky team in bb.

I am however glad they beat the Phillies… I don’t think the Angels could have and it would have sucked to witness that bloodbath.

I watched all the games, and being a Yankees fan for my entire life, it was a terrific series. The Phillies are a very good team with some great players, but they also have loud-mouthed jerks like Jimmy Rollins and Pedro. The win is so much sweeter having beaten Pedro twice and “J-Roll” hitting worse than Andy Pettite. Utley did have a great series, but remember that Reggie hit 4 homeruns in FOUR CONSECUTIVE AT BATS with FOUR CONSECUTIVE SWINGS in ’77. I seriously doubt that anyone will ever duplicate that.

I do agree that the Jay-Z song is really really bad and very very annoying. They should’ve just stuck with Frank. For a franchise with so much history and so much pride in it’s history, to let a POS like Jay-Z ruin it really boggles my mind.

Gonna go watch the parade on my DVR when I get home from work tonight.

yes, it was another awesome season! What a great team even if they didn’t get it done this year. There is always next year and we might just see those Yankees again for some revenge.

Did the guy in the Superman costume you saw have on boxing gloves? My buddy was running around with a superman costume but also had boxing gloves on to represent Rocky. It was hilarious!

@M-Cat, I had all of game 6 to gradually accept that we wouldn’t be winning. Kinda felt defeated throughout the entire thing, but in the end I was SO proud of how far they got this year. It just reminded me how much I freakin love this team. (It’s been fun, but so long Brett Myers.)

The parade last year was great. Nobody here even cared (or remembered) it was Halloween. Loved the guy in the Superman suit running around.

Judy – I was heartbroken too. I had a nasty feeling in my gut right when it ended but at least we won last year. I’m not complaining too much because the parade last year was the most amazing thing I have ever been a part of with millions of people running around in the streets. It was a great run!

The reason players from other countries come to the US to play is because of SALARY, not because of the quality of baseball there.

And it SHOULD be the “American Series”, not the “world” series.

I’m sorry, which “World” is this the series of?

I saw the video of (sorry I’m not a huge baseball fan, so I may have the player’s name wrong) A. Rod yelling out “we’re the champions of the world” or some-such. But then, I wonder… “WHAT world, exactly?” Which teams from other countries did you just beat?

And then, Americans wonder why the rest of the planet thinks they are chauvinists.
