There have been a few attempts to bring Wonder Woman to the big screen since the character’s inception 75 years ago, but next year Diana will finally come out swinging in her own big-budget blockbuster action movie, directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster). Returning to the role after a memorable introduction in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gal Gadot will play a younger (though still thousands of years old) version of the Themysciran warrior princess as she explores the world of men during a tumultuous time in history – the First World War.

Diana’s adventure begins after she finds soldier Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) washed up on a beach of the Amazons’ isolated island home, in a meeting of two worlds that will not only bring the war to the Amazons’ doorstep, but will also draw Diana away from Themyscira. Anticipation for Wonder Woman is higher than ever thanks to an impressive Comic-Con trailer, and fans are naturally eager to see more from the movie.

Based on the release schedule for Suicide Squad‘s non-Comic-Con trailers (the first of which was released 8 months before the movie hit theaters), we can probably expect to see a new Wonder Woman trailer in October. In fact, that’s looking more likely than ever, since a couple of low-res leaked images from Wonder Woman have emerged online, one of which appears to be from a trailer edit. Check them out below (via CBM).

The watermark on the second image is for trailer editing company Trailer Park, perhaps best known for doing such a great job cutting the trailers for Suicide Squad that Warner Bros. (controversially) enlisted Trailer Park’s help in editing the movie itself. The company is fast becoming a go-to source for superhero movie promotion, having also cut trailers for Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War and X-Men: Apocalypse.

The image was originally posted to Reddit, and the source is unclear, but the date in the top right corner shows that it is from August 19th – so this trailer has been in the works for at least a month. The shot appears to be taken from a sequence in which Themyscira’s coastline is attacked by German forces, which we’ve seen before in both the trailer and set photos.

Wonder Woman is under a lot of pressure: as a female superhero movie, as the first Wonder Woman movie, and as the next entry in a cinematic universe that has so far been plagued by bad reviews. It’s never easy when a movie has this many expectations to live up to, but we’re hopeful that Wonder Woman will rise to the challenge.

Suicide Squad is in theaters now. Wonder Woman opens on June 2, 2017; Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; an untitled DC Film on October 5, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; an untitled DC film on November 1, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash, the Batman solo movie and Man of Steel 2 are currently without release dates.
