Gal Gadot reveals who she thinks would win in a fight, Wonder Woman or Thor, and Chris Hemsworth offers his own thoughts on the matchup. The latest entry in Warner Bros' DC Extended Universe hit theaters this weekend with the release of Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman, the fourth installment in the superhero franchise after Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad. The DCEU is youngest of Hollywood's major superhero universes, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe having kicked off 2008 and Fox's X-Men franchise in 2000.

Of course, the characters that populate these Hollywood universes have existed on the pages of Marvel and DC Comics for decades, and have even starred in comic crossovers together. As such, Marvel vs DC has been an ongoing and major debate among fans for many years - albeit lighthearted, for the most part. Now, in honor of the release of Wonder Woman, the film's star is asked who she thinks would win in a fight between DC's demi-goddess Diana and the MCU's God of Thunder, Thor.

In an interview with Katie Couric, as reported by Yahoo! News, Gadot was asked who she believes would win in a battle between the two comic book characters. She answered that Wonder Woman would be the victor - and asked Thor's Hemsworth to weight. Hemsworth responded on Twitter, agreeing with Gadot's answer. Take a look below:

I always knew you were a smart guy :) But I think its worth a fight . we should collide worlds?— Gal Gadot (@GalGadot) June 4, 2017

Of course, the question of whether Wonder Woman or Thor would win in a fight is just another side of the friendly Marvel vs DC debate, since the characters are godlike counterparts in their respective universes. As such, there may not be a right answer to the question (and fans may never get to see the characters duke it out on screen). But, the range of powers Wonder Woman displays in her solo film are certainly formidable - even Thor himself believes she would best him in a fight. Still, it's a fun question to discuss pertaining to the DCEU and MCU characters.

When the DCEU kicked off in earnest last spring with Batman V Superman, a number of movie fans compared the universe-building film to various MCU entries despite Warner Bros and Marvel Studios having taken different routes to establishing their franchises. Still, considering the success Marvel has seen by introducing its characters - particularly Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor - in standalone films before bringing them together for The Avengers (which grossed more than $1 billion), many consider the MCU to be a blueprint for a successful superhero shared world.

That said, Wonder Woman has proven to be a major success for the DCEU. Wonder Woman was a hit with critics, and has so far received exceptionally positive responses from fans, earning an A CinemaScore. Additionally, Wonder Woman's opening weekend box office is strong, and is set to break the record held by Fifty Shades of Grey's Sam Taylor-Johnson for biggest opening by a female director. So, while the DCEU continues alongside the MCU, fans will likely get more opportunities to debate the merits of its various comic book characters.
