After a powerful introduction in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Diana Prince is set to return to the big screen next year in Wonder Woman, the first ever live-action feature film about one of DC Comics' oldest and most famous characters. Gal Gadot returns as the titular Amazonian in a prequel story that will take her away from Themyscira and out into the world of men for the first time.
Directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster), Wonder Woman boasts a strong cast that also includes Chris Pine as love interest Steve Trevor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, and Robin Wright as Hippolyta's sister Antiope. The movie also features two villains - whose identities are as-yet unclear - played by Danny Huston and Elena Anaya, both of whom appear in the brand new trailer for Wonder Woman.
Though we've seen some of the footage in the trailer before, there are also plenty of interesting new scenes as Diana ventures out into the world, tries to cope with 1910s ladies fashion (it's not really designed for fighting in), and ends up in the trenches of World War I. The "war to end all wars" also ends up encroaching on the shores of Themyscira, as the trailer shows Steve Trevor's plane crashing into the water nearby and a huge battle between Germans and Amazonians. If a slow-motion sequence in which a German fires a gun at an Amazonian is any indication, this may be the first time that Diana witnesses death.
