Warning! Spoilers for Devil's Reign: X-Men #1 by Marvel Comics

Since becoming Wolverine, Laura Kinney has dealt with plenty of heroes and villains telling her she doesn't live up to her father, Logan. In Devil's Reign: X-Men #1 by Marvel Comics, Wolverine offered the perfect response to Taskmaster after the Thunderbolts villain calls her a pretender after telling her he fought the original Wolverine, but not her. She responds with, "oh, dude. I'm so not interested."

Laura Kinney is currently playing a huge role for the X-Men, as she's on the mutant's main superteam. The hero, formerly known as X-23, operates under the codename Wolverine, which her father Logan agreed to let her use as a legacy hero. However, despite having Marvel's original Wolverine's approval to use the superhero name, Laura has been met with several foes who claim she's not worthy of the title - despite her proving time and time again she's the best choice to take on the moniker. Wolverine is tired of villains calling her a pretender and just offered a perfect response to those claiming she's not the real deal.

In Devil's Reign: X-Men #1 by Gerry Duggan, Phil Noto, VC's Cory Petit, and Tom Muller, Kingpin continues to abuse his power as the mayor of New York by sending the Thunderbolts to arrest costumed vigilantes. The X-Men, who currently operates out of the Treehouse in New York City, are among Wilson Fisk's targets, as he sends John Walker to deal with them. However, after they don't comply, Fisk sends in the Thunderbolts. Taskmaster immediately ruffles feathers with Wolverine by telling her he fought the original version, but "not this pretender." Wolverine dismisses him with a perfect response telling him, "oh, dude. I'm so not interested."

Real Wolverine Pretender

Wolverine has to be tired of heroes and villains asking her to prove herself. Laura Kinney has been Wolverine for some time now and is far past the point that she needs to show Taskmaster of all people she's on the same level as her dad. Calling her a pretender might have hurt Wolverine earlier in her superhero career, but right now, she's not interested in having to prove she lives up to the name. Wolverine knows she does.

Wolverine is a critical piece the X-Men's primary team and has fought alongside mutants and Earth's Mightiest Heroes many times. Taskmaster labeling her a pretender simply isn't an effective ploy. Wolverine telling him, "I'm so not interested," in fighting is the perfect response to Taskmaster's intimidation tactics. He's not worth her time.
