Episode 4 deals with the amount of compromise filmmakers often contend with, and how it takes a toll on the artist as well as audience when studio meddling kicks into high gear. Plus, at the end of the day, what’s important is how much “love” the filmmaker is able to inject into his work. Scott also describes the absurdity of his trying to make a “reverse Different Strokes” when the studio wanted to do it without kids (???). With references to Black Dynamite, Different Strokes, Thick as Thieves, Michael Jae White, Alec Baldwin, and Hello Larry.

That’s all for today, folks! Be sure to check back tomorrow for more movie-related geekery.

  1. Anybody else find Back to the Fatwah… really racist? V surprised that got on tv. But tbf it’s anti Iranian and aired in America, soo… not that surprised.

    • Yeah, wasn’t funny at all.

I guess that’s the difference between British and American humour. We can do biting sarcasm and satirical jokes really well and make it funny and they….well, judging by low viewing figures for Graham Norton’s US show, US audiences just don’t get satire or sarcasm.

      • Trust me, as someone born and raised in America and who enjoys British humor, satire and sarcasm goes over most American’s heads.

        • I don’t think there’s anything wrong with making discriminatory fun of a nation that is itself massivly discriminatory. I mean, they literally kill you for being christian or gay in that country.

It’s like poking fun at white supremists, black panthers or any other ‘race only’ group, which are by definition, racist.

  2. I already knew Rogan was the worst actor in Hollywood. Suprisingly this was the only entertaining thing he has ever done.

  3. Please excuse my ignorance, but I really kind of assumed that a promo for something called “HILARITY for Charity” would’ve included some amount of hilarity. And the only charity was my giving two minutes of my life to it. That was horrid.

    • Well, that was your mistake then.
