Didn’t we JUST close out a DVD giveway? Well, it’s time for another one! With the opening of the remake of the classic Science Fiction film The Day the Earth Stood Still starring Keanu Reeves, we thought it would be appropriate to give away the original film. A spaceship lands in Washington D.C., capturing the attention of the world. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST EVER SI-FI MOVIES OF ALL TIME…BUT I’M HOPING THE NEW MOVIE STILL CAPTURES THE MAGIC AND ISN’T JUST EFFECTS FROM START TO FINISH.
GORT IN THE OLD MOVIE WAS REALLY SCARY…YET HE NEVER DONE MUCH…BUT HE DIDN’T HAVE TO…HIS SILENCE WAS ENOUGH TO KNOW THIS GUYS ONE MEAN SOB…HAS ANYONE HERE HEARD ANY REPORTS YET AS TO WHAT THIS MOVIE’S GOING TO DELIVER?
The first one dealt with an alien (Klaatu) coming to earth to warn us not to bring our bickering and childish warmongering to other planets, since we will one day apply nuclear power to rockets. This new one has Klaatu coming to earth to eradicate humans because we are killing the planet. I don’t have much hopes that this one will be better than the original, except for special effects. I think it will make around $15 million the first weekend and drop significantly the next.
I never saw the original and would liek to see it. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it.

It’s going to make a hell of a lot more than $15MM opening weekend, but the following weekend it will drop like a rock.

Yeah, the original movie’s plot completely stomps the remake.
Anyone notice how this new cover art makes the flying saucer look similar to the ball looking ship in the new film ?

Not sold on the remake. Probably will be a rental. The whole environmental aspect Hollywood is implementing is REALLY starting to bug me.

I think everyone is getting sick of the environmental aspect. Its like they are literaly shoving it down our throats!
