Jess says:

Will Smith has been keeping himself busy. I loved the Prsuit of Happyness. Im looking foward to this film.

TheMantis says:

Yo Sherry Bethel, You’re not talking directley to Will Smith here… God that made me laugh.

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

I tried watching the trailer but it only showed a woman swimming, and then it ended. It looked like the start of “Jaws”.

I think this is Smith’s 2nd time acting with the lovely Rosario. Lucky man! Opps, don’t let my wife know I said that. 8-)

Andy S says:

That looks like it’s going to be a good film. I usually like Will Smith films and this looks like no exception. Looks like a good date flick.

Rose says:

I am looking forward to seeing this movie at the show. My husband and I don’t go to the show very often because there seems to be alot of bad movies (in my opinion). I enjoy the plots that have a human connection and make a different in the way we can all effect each other. Every person has the “choice” to connect with another person and make a positive influence on that person. Will Smith is a great person to be in dramatic roles. He feels the part he plays. Therefore we feel the part.

Ok, just to clear things up..the Sherri Bethel in Wills web page, is not the Sherri Bethel that I am, so this is to the person responding to the other Sherri Bethel, your responce is understandable. However I needed to clear my name as this pops up on the entrance of my name on the net and I loathe it.

I like Will, no issues there, I don’t like the laughable comment tagged to the Sherri Bethel that others my confuse me with.

Saw it. Don’t like it. For the first hour and a half plus I was trying to figure out where this was going, why he was doing the things he was doing, and why I should care. The ending is very good, but sitting through 75% of the film to get the the good part at the end was tedious. Definitly not Pursuit of Happyness.

grumpeeoldman says:

I went to the preemiere of the movie last night in Philly. We were discusing the title. We think it was named that b/c of the total weight of all the organs donated? Were we correct?

Denise says:

I thought the movie was awesome. Yes, at first I couldn’t figure out what was going on but it was worth waiting until the end to find out. Will Smith is great!

Birdie says:

Was it names 7 pounds because of the weight of the organs he donated, or was it because it was 7 people? And it was a very touching movie… it made you think. But it also sort of glorified suicide. Overall, amazing movie…be prepared to cry! =)

Diana says:

We left the movie having many questions. For example, did he only own one suit? Why did he have to pretend to be an IRS agent? Why the jellyfish? Why did he live in the motel? At best, I’d rate this movie a C+.

Dennis says:

So what is the definition of “pounds” in this movie??

Diana says:

What was with the present he left in the car for Emily but never gave her?!?!? Looked like it might have been a calendar.

Ann says:

The movie was so so. But I only count 6 people. Brother, Emily, Ezra, Holly, Little Boy, Mother and 2 kids.. Oh the man done with dialysis who donated money to some kids. I don’t know no tears and I’m usually a sap, little boring and a little creepy, guy who sneaks around emily hospital and house.

I loved this movie! The best film I’ve seen all year. Maybe ever. Phenomenal! The trailer doesn’t say much because if it does, it would give the whole movie away so if you see it and wonder what if it’s good, TRUST ME IT IS. I know this seems weird, but everything happens in the last 15 minutes. Well, almost everything. I’ve never seen another movie like it, but I love it. I can’t say that enough. I want to go back and see it again. -Yes it is one of those movies. Even when you know what happens at the end. I LOVE Will Smith, and I love this movie.

Anonymous says:

P.S. DO NOT LISTEN TO Ann. She has no idea I guess. Were you even watching the same movie?

@Dennis

I believe it refers to the Shakespeare play “The Merchant of Venice” where bankers wanted to extract a “pound of flesh” from those who owed them money. In other words, no matter how hard it was on the person who owed the money, they wanted to be paid regardless.

And since Will Smith wanted to pay back for seven people, then you have seven pounds of flesh.

Karen says:

I must say that Will Smith definitely did not disappoint me. I cannot think of another actor that would play this role with the depth and finesse he portrayed. You will leave with very profound thoughts, might even haunt you for awhile after seeing it, but it is definitely a must see.

Brasilia says:

OMG THIS MOVIE IS BETTER THAN HAPPINESS WILL SMITH IS AN AMASING ACTOR VERY EMOTIONAL ONE OF THOSE MOVIES THAT MAKE US THINK TWICE

Fran says:

This movie was well written but sad; however the next day I thought deeply about the courage/determination Will Smith dipicted in the movie. I am an organ donor and I certainly understand the importance of helping others have a better quality of life. Also there were 7 people he helped but I am clueless what 7 Pounds means. What about the gift for Emily? He never gave it to her.

I really disliked this movie. It started of confusing and slow and didnt get any better. I love will smiths movies but this one and the Pursuit of Happiness were both horrible films.

Anonymous says:

to ann’s comment the seven people were:
Ben(Brother), Emily, Ezra, Holly, Little Boy, Mother and 2 kids, and the woman from the hospital who wasnt allowed to bathe.

Birdie says:

I found out why the movie is called 7 Pounds:
“Seven Pounds” is a reference to Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice” where creditors demanded their “pound of flesh” no matter how painful the repayment would be to the debtors. It is just a reference and the weight of the individual organs (heart) is not seven pounds.

Jim says:

the human heart weighs “seven pounds”. Check an anatomy book.

Diana says:

This message is for ‘Jim’ dated 12/30/08:

The human heart does NOT weigh 7 pounds! Good God…think about it…doesn’t that sound awfully heavy for a human heart? It might be true for an elephant’s heart. The human heart weighs between 9 and 10.5 OUNCES. Maybe you should check a better anatomy book than the one you’re currently using.

Daniela says:

The movie was outstanding…I loved it. Will Smith is a phenomenal actor and will get better. I hope people who see or have seen this movie feel the strongness of the movie.

I’m pretty sure the reference is Shakespearean as someone mentioned above.

Vic

Kyle says:

Slow slow slow but gets better. last 10 minutes makes the movie. Nothing near the pursuit of happyness. That one is interesting the whole time. This is slow and boring except for the very begining and very end.

larry grumet says:

does anyone know when this movie was actually made or filmed? what year?
