Jess says:

Will Smith has been keeping himself busy. I loved the Prsuit of Happyness. Im looking foward to this film.

TheMantis says:

Yo Sherry Bethel, You’re not talking directley to Will Smith here… God that made me laugh.

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

I tried watching the trailer but it only showed a woman swimming, and then it ended. It looked like the start of “Jaws”.

I think this is Smith’s 2nd time acting with the lovely Rosario. Lucky man! Opps, don’t let my wife know I said that. 8-)

Andy S says:

That looks like it’s going to be a good film. I usually like Will Smith films and this looks like no exception. Looks like a good date flick.

Rose says:

I am looking forward to seeing this movie at the show. My husband and I don’t go to the show very often because there seems to be alot of bad movies (in my opinion). I enjoy the plots that have a human connection and make a different in the way we can all effect each other. Every person has the “choice” to connect with another person and make a positive influence on that person. Will Smith is a great person to be in dramatic roles. He feels the part he plays. Therefore we feel the part.

Ok, just to clear things up..the Sherri Bethel in Wills web page, is not the Sherri Bethel that I am, so this is to the person responding to the other Sherri Bethel, your responce is understandable. However I needed to clear my name as this pops up on the entrance of my name on the net and I loathe it.

I like Will, no issues there, I don’t like the laughable comment tagged to the Sherri Bethel that others my confuse me with.

Industry Insider says:

Saw it. Don’t like it. For the first hour and a half plus I was trying to figure out where this was going, why he was doing the things he was doing, and why I should care. The ending is very good, but sitting through 75% of the film to get the the good part at the end was tedious. Definitly not Pursuit of Happyness.

grumpeeoldman says:

I went to the preemiere of the movie last night in Philly. We were discusing the title. We think it was named that b/c of the total weight of all the organs donated? Were we correct?

Denise says:

I thought the movie was awesome. Yes, at first I couldn’t figure out what was going on but it was worth waiting until the end to find out. Will Smith is great!

Birdie says:

Was it names 7 pounds because of the weight of the organs he donated, or was it because it was 7 people? And it was a very touching movie… it made you think. But it also sort of glorified suicide. Overall, amazing movie…be prepared to cry! =)

Diana says:

We left the movie having many questions. For example, did he only own one suit? Why did he have to pretend to be an IRS agent? Why the jellyfish? Why did he live in the motel? At best, I’d rate this movie a C+.

Dennis says:

So what is the definition of “pounds” in this movie??

Diana says:

What was with the present he left in the car for Emily but never gave her?!?!? Looked like it might have been a calendar.

Ann says:

The movie was so so. But I only count 6 people. Brother, Emily, Ezra, Holly, Little Boy, Mother and 2 kids.. Oh the man done with dialysis who donated money to some kids. I don’t know no tears and I’m usually a sap, little boring and a little creepy, guy who sneaks around emily hospital and house.

I loved this movie! The best film I’ve seen all year. Maybe ever. Phenomenal! The trailer doesn’t say much because if it does, it would give the whole movie away so if you see it and wonder what if it’s good, TRUST ME IT IS. I know this seems weird, but everything happens in the last 15 minutes. Well, almost everything. I’ve never seen another movie like it, but I love it. I can’t say that enough. I want to go back and see it again. -Yes it is one of those movies. Even when you know what happens at the end. I LOVE Will Smith, and I love this movie.

Anonymous says:

P.S. DO NOT LISTEN TO Ann. She has no idea I guess. Were you even watching the same movie?

@Dennis

I believe it refers to the Shakespeare play “The Merchant of Venice” where bankers wanted to extract a “pound of flesh” from those who owed them money. In other words, no matter how hard it was on the person who owed the money, they wanted to be paid regardless.

And since Will Smith wanted to pay back for seven people, then you have seven pounds of flesh.

Karen says:

I must say that Will Smith definitely did not disappoint me. I cannot think of another actor that would play this role with the depth and finesse he portrayed. You will leave with very profound thoughts, might even haunt you for awhile after seeing it, but it is definitely a must see.

Brasilia says:

OMG THIS MOVIE IS BETTER THAN HAPPINESS WILL SMITH IS AN AMASING ACTOR VERY EMOTIONAL ONE OF THOSE MOVIES THAT MAKE US THINK TWICE

Fran says:

This movie was well written but sad; however the next day I thought deeply about the courage/determination Will Smith dipicted in the movie. I am an organ donor and I certainly understand the importance of helping others have a better quality of life. Also there were 7 people he helped but I am clueless what 7 Pounds means. What about the gift for Emily? He never gave it to her.

Anonymous says:

I really disliked this movie. It started of confusing and slow and didnt get any better. I love will smiths movies but this one and the Pursuit of Happiness were both horrible films.

Anonymous says:

to ann’s comment the seven people were:
Ben(Brother), Emily, Ezra, Holly, Little Boy, Mother and 2 kids, and the woman from the hospital who wasnt allowed to bathe.

Birdie says:

I found out why the movie is called 7 Pounds:
“Seven Pounds” is a reference to Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice” where creditors demanded their “pound of flesh” no matter how painful the repayment would be to the debtors. It is just a reference and the weight of the individual organs (heart) is not seven pounds.

Jim says:

the human heart weighs “seven pounds”. Check an anatomy book.

Diana says:

This message is for ‘Jim’ dated 12/30/08:

The human heart does NOT weigh 7 pounds! Good God…think about it…doesn’t that sound awfully heavy for a human heart? It might be true for an elephant’s heart. The human heart weighs between 9 and 10.5 OUNCES. Maybe you should check a better anatomy book than the one you’re currently using.

Daniela says:

The movie was outstanding…I loved it. Will Smith is a phenomenal actor and will get better. I hope people who see or have seen this movie feel the strongness of the movie.

I’m pretty sure the reference is Shakespearean as someone mentioned above.

Vic

Kyle says:

Slow slow slow but gets better. last 10 minutes makes the movie. Nothing near the pursuit of happyness. That one is interesting the whole time. This is slow and boring except for the very begining and very end.

larry grumet says:

does anyone know when this movie was actually made or filmed? what year?

JD says:

The hockey coach with dialysis was one of the 7 people he helped. He just happened to help the old lady get a bath while he was evaluating the nursing home director. He decided the director wasn’t a good person, therefore, no help for him.

@larry

I would assume 2008.

Vic

In my opinion, and others that I know have seen it. This is the best movie Will Smith has made.

Blitz says:

Emily Posa Heart
Ezra Turner Eyes
Ben Thomas One of his lungs
Holly Right half of liver
George Ristuccia (the old guy who donated to kids) Kidney
Nicholas (the little boy) Bone marrow
Connie House

Q: What is the average weight of human heart in pounds?

A: About 11 ounces which is about 5/8 pounds

Chuck S. says:

This was ultimately one of the Top movies I’ve had the opportunity to see!
I only have one other movie in mind which can compare and that movie is Crash.
This is a must see.

JazzCG says:

According to a medical textbook used by most doctors in training in medical school (Robbins book of Pathology), the avg FEMALE HEART weighs (250-300grams = 0.55-0.66 lb = 8.81-10.58 oz)and the avg MALE HEART weighs 300-350grams = (0.66-0.77 lb = 10.58-12.34 oz). Continue the discussion re:significance of 7 pounds as an appropriate movie title…

reel says:

The movie isn’t slow at all. It’s called “set-up” and it is beautifully and creatively done. It was very deliberate and entertaining for anyone that can appreciate some intellectual stimulation instead of the usual car chase. Impatient moviegoers again. Just a result of that instant, “I want it now generation” again. You know, the micro-waves, instant coffee, instant credit sort of thing. Bravo Will! Well done.

Jackie says:

OMG I watched this movie over the weekend and at first it was a mystery in which I love but it was slow for about 45 minutes and it could have been faster. As the movie continues you are consumed with figuring out why name the movie “7 Pounds?” As the scenes continued and you began to feel sad and confused at the same time then you began counting those people who he helped. Then you wondered why he wanted to help them and why the Octupus and on and on with lots of questions circling around in your head. Then you see the newspaper clipping and found out that he was responsible for the deaths of 7 individuals including his wife! Then you discover that he wanted to end his life because he could not bare the idea of being responsible for this crime. As I sat there I was thinking but you did not kill these people on purpose but your going to commit suicide and this will make the world a better place. I went on to think about Samson in the Bible whom after so many warnings from his parents, this woman from the valley Delialah and finally his eyes were taken from him along with his strenght as a Nazaareen. He finally decided that he would take down that whole population of bad folks along with his life. Well after he did this you are left to think was this suicide or was this a sacrafice? Same thing with this movie, One healthy life for the increased value of 7 other lives? What a movie and it leaves lots of unanswered questions. I am seeking the face of God on this one and is it our assignment to change the course of history in society when our very own lives are at stake after all God gave his son to us to save the world could Wil Smith be acting as a God figure? Could he be giving his life for the saving value of lives he choose only if they were considered good people by himself?

Magnificant Movie………..causes you to think and not be given the message on a sliver platter

Dot says:

I loved this movie!!! It was one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. It took my breath away, the cast was incredible and well chosen. Will Smith’s acting just gets better and better. The movie shows you how beautiful life really is and it made you feel!! I did not have a dry eye throughout the entire film. If it were up to me I would give will smith and the movie an academy award.

OneLove says:

Great Movie!! One of those movies that make you think and realize there still are positive people in the world. It brings us down to earth and show us how hard life can be for others in the struggle, the beginning was a bit slow but other then that the movie itself made me want to give back and help others out as well, one love!

Kenyatta says:

Great movie. I was a little reluctant to see it due to the Brad Pitt movie and its rave reviews, but my wife won the coin toss, so off we went to see this movie. In my opinion, this is a great movie with a creative plot, also it features stellar acting performed by Will Smith and Rosario Dawson. If you are a die hard fan of typical hollywood movies, please do not go see this one because it is a little mature for the average movie goer. People who enjoy stories with a twist go see it, I challenge you.

Emilie says:

About the 7 people – I think the hospital director with the nice new car was a candidate for something but he didn’t get it because he was ‘not a good person’

Good movie.

Karen says:

I guess he replaced the seven pounds for the seven lives he felt responsible for. I really enjoyed this movie and I also cried thinking about my sister who gave me a “gift”…One of her kidneys. I was on dialysis for two and a half years and could have got her kidney sooner, but I was afraid that something would happen to her. But I started getting more sick than what I was and finally decided that this would improve my life and I wanted to be here for my three kids. I thank her with something very special every February 18th. This year will make eight(8)years that I will have her kidney.

VeeJay says:

Alas, I read the reviews and now pretty much know what the movie is about. My Bad! BUT….y’all have convinced me that I must see this movie. I want to thank everyone for the good and bad reviews!

Whitney says:

I watched it today and I was crying at the very beginning. If you saw the movie you know what part i’m talking about. It was kinda slow but it was totally worth it. It kept me thinking from start to finish. It is one of the the best movies i’ve seen in a while. I think everyone will take something from it. Like I’ve heard other say everything comes together in the last 15 or 20 minutes of the movie. The is a film that will be remembered for years to come. If you haven’t seen it you must.

hj says:

WTH do you people mean by slow? What do you wanna know whats gonna happen within the first 30 mins of the movie so you can call it boring or too short at the end? lol Curiosity is what draws people farther into a movie or book….if you lack curiosity you need to learn patience or go find some excitement for your life or go visit a doc and be an ADD patient like the rest of the country.

Janosh says:

why didn’t he donate his big ears to somebody?

Karen says:

Answer for Janoshs’ Question:

I am sure if he could, you can be first in line to get them. That way you will know how ignorant that sounds when you ask yourself that question.

Diana says:

Reply to Karen….Lighten up, woman. Janosh’s comment was hilarious! We all love Will Smith, but you gotta admit, he DOES have some big ears.

I would tend to agree with Diana – that IS funny. :-P
