As we continue to steamroll toward the July 20th release of The Dark Knight Rises (can you feel the excitement yet?) – and with Man of Steel a little under a year away – there comes word that the two superhero heavyweights will be appearing together in a forthcoming motion picture. As Legos.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Warner Bros. is moving ahead on plans to create a Lego feature film featuring both Batman and Superman. The Lego movie is currently untitled, but many have referred to the project as Lego: The Piece of Resistance. Whether or not the name will stick is unknown at this time.
While we first reported over two years ago that plans had been made to develop such a film, it appears that the project has finally found its legs.
According to reports, Chris Pratt (Moneyball) will provide the voice for the lead character, Emmet, while Will Arnett (Arrested Development) will lend his voice as Batman. The studio has offered the part of Superman to Channing Tatum (Magic Mike), but there’s no word yet on whether or not he’ll accept the offer. It’s doubtful, though, as the actor has recently become bonafide star.
Directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street) have been attached to the Lego movie for some time, and they’re still attached to direct.
Check out the official synopsis for the untitled Lego project below:
“Emmet is an ordinary, law-abiding, rules-following, perfectly average Lego mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary MasterBuilder. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.”
Of course, hardcore gamers are familiar with both Batman and Superman as Legos in the recently released LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheros. Whether or not film fans will embrace not only Legos, but Lego superheroes, remains to be seen.

Other cameos from different properties will reportedly take place throughout the film. Could an Indiana Jones or Star Wars cameo (or two) be in the works?

This just sounds stupid. I mean… what a f***ing waste of f***ing money.
Umm Lego has been making tv show, animated shorts, video games and direct-to-tv movies for years. This is nothing new. They know what they are doing. The premise has a kingdom hearts feel. The cameos should be fun.
Lol its like everyone is getting mad at pixar for making a movie about toys.
The official title has been announced…
Lego: $$$
And the sequel…
Lego 2: $$$
Hah, f***ing bunch of monkeys
I think I’ve just lost faith in the human race… anyone have a gun they can lend me?
here you go.
bye, bye. i dont think i’ll be missing you.
Lol nice
Batman movie? amazing, superman movie? good, Batman/Superman lego movie?….. hollywood i have lost respect for you
wtf
w..
^^ what a bunch of drama queens.
It looks like harmless entertainment for the whole family.
If you call that entertainment well, huh… I feel very, very sorry for your wife/future spouse.
So, ummm, it’s April 1st, right? RIGHT?!?
Not gonna lie, this sounds like a pretty awful idea.
It’s a kids movie. Everyone relax
Now, if they release it as a direct-to-dvd movie (like the “Bionicle” and “Ninjago” kids’ flicks), I could understand it happening…
YES!
So long as the Superman is trunksless
I love Will Arnett I think he is hilarious but why cast him in this? For the 800th time regardless of the animation type, Kevin Conroy should be the only voice of Batman until he dies.
There are going to be other Batman voices…even while Conroy yet lives (I’m sure he actually enjoys doing OTHER voices sometimes).
You’ll simply have to get used to that FACT.
how about getting a sequel to 21 jump street going instead of wasting time and money on this hot steaming pile.
guys relax.
*if this sucks and bombs, nobody will care and everyone will forget.
*but if this does well, it (coupled with avengers’ success) might inspire warner bros to FINALLY fast track either the batman/superman crossover or better the justice league film.
this goes to show just how immature, young and moronic internet users are. back when i was young these kinds of movies would be released (and still are released) as tie in to certain lego franchises such as bionicle, jack somethingarather and so on.
this is nothing but harmless fun aimed at KIDS, to think that this would come out on the big screens once again shows the stupidity of the internet and that not all people should be allowed ot use anything besides a well placed gun to the head
i bet the same jokes crying about this are the same people that think the lego games are childish, stupid and are worse then CoD… *sigh*

this is nothing but harmless fun aimed at KIDS, for someone to think that this would come out on the big screen shows the ignorance of the current generation and shows us that not all people should be allowed to use the internet or any other form of media due to severe brain functionality issues
i bet the same jokes crying about this are the same people that think the lego games are childish, stupid and are a waste of money/ ‘obvious cash grab’… *sigh*
…well, that’s odd.
Still, it isn’t aimed at us. It’s a KIDS movie for kids: and they’ll probably love it (which is a good thing, because then we’ll have a whole new generation of Batman & Superman fans!)
That said, I don’t know why the hell they’re releasing this as a feature film (lego movies are usually direct-to-dvd) – not sure if it’ll do that well financially…

But let’s look on the bright side though: Batman and Superman will finally be seen together on the big screen!
i highly doubt it will have a theatrical release, these sort of movies are never given that treatment, that being said it could all be some sick market trick to lure kids into seeing the live action counter parts of said characters movies… i hope not…
Sorry, for some reason I was under the impression that this would be a released in cinemas…
I re-read the article and I stand corrected. It makes sense that it’ll be a direct-to-dvd movie, not a theatrical film, and as a CHILDREN’S feature film (i.e 60-120 minutes long) I can see that making sense as well.
What’s wrong with a Lego film? So far, most Lego games (including DC2) have been entertaining and pretty well written, so what’s wrong with alego film? At least give it a chance and watch the trailer bwfore you sh*t on it.
As a nerdy father with small kids I like the lego superhero movies and games.
I have every single one of them…wonderfully creative and fun games.
The idea of this as a theatrical release sounds bizarre. If it IS a direct-to-dvd release, I might, in fact, pick it up…The “Bionicle” movies are entertaining.
You lost me at 21 Jump Street.
^^^^ Did any of these people READ the article. It’s not a Batman/Superman movie done with LEGO. It’s a LEGO movie that will, at some point, have LEGO Batman and LEGO Superman. It may not be much more than a glorified cameo.
The reason so many are reading the article as such is because it was very clearly written to highlight that superhero presence. The article purposely concentrates on the Batman/Superman aspect of the movie, so it’s a bit unfair to speak down to those who are interpreting it as the movie it’s described as being. The ONLY part of the article that offers ANY clue of some different interpretation is the direct quotation…and that is vague at best.
Just pointing out the reasoning…not saying I fully agree with it.
Wow lol does snybody read?
Its a Lego movie with a cameoed Batman/Superman. There will be other cameos as well. Why is there so much uproar?
Well, it isn’t really right to assume that they’ll only have cameo appearances: for all we know they’ll be the “stars” of the movie.
Whoever Channing Tatum’s agent is clearly he is underpaid.
It’s mystifying how many projects he gets his client attached to.
Does this have any relation to the feature being done by Chris Miller and Phil Lord?
Wow. Many of you need to chill. Lego movies are for KIDS. They have a number of them out there already, Clutch Powers, Ninjago (TV), and they even have a Star Wars Lego movie out.
The launch of Batman 2 video game appears to be a hit. It’s not surprising they would make a movie with this, whether they are cameos or not.
In fact, the Lego movies are pretty funny. My kids watch them all the time, and I enjoy watching with them. Great family fun.
I don’t understand all the negativity.
I like the sound of it. The LEGO games are hilarious and honestly, if they can give us utter crap as cinematic releases in both animated and live action flavours then surely this should be given the same instead of being direct to DVD?
Besides, I though Emperor’s New Groove looked stupid but when I saw it, it became a fave film of mine.
Then again this is a LEGO movie anyways so it isn’t bad.
This is interesting. The same 4 nearly incoherent comments all come from posters with no links and very similar names; Harry, Barry, Larry & Gary. Could these 4 be the famous Monkey Quadruplets? The 4 brothers who were found living in the wild being raised by a pack of wild mules? The same 4 who after being captured were taken to Bedlam, the famous South London institution for the insane where the doctors tried to educate the 4 brother so that they could one day rejoin human society but eventually gave up declaring the brothers to be un-domestic able and “permanently incoherent”? It certainly would explain the otherwise nonsensical comments made by each poster.
