With Thor and Ant Man going into production soon (the latter is unconfirmed, but rumors point to an early 2008 start), who knows? At least Marvel isn't rushing an Avengers movie.

Update: TRANSFORMERS 2 gets release date: June 29, 2009. That means they'll be rushing this into production before the possible strike. Hmmm, this gives them a few months of pre-production and script development (they had at least 4-5 months pre-pro and at least 2-3 years script development on the first).

The two writers, Orci and Kurtzman, are working on the new Star Trek film, so what's gonna happen? If you hated the first one, this one may really upset you. I liked the first one, btw.

Ha! So I'm not the only person who thinks that BlueTights.net is an unnoficial "official" WB site!

Yeah,it does look pretty much impossible for Singer to do all 3 films in 2 years time, given how slow he is in between films (good director,he's just slow sometimes).

Funny thing is,the only film out of those 3 that he's making that I have any interest in is Man of Steel,LOL!

I like BlueTights.net, though I'm 99% sure that's an unofficial "official" WB site.

I was trying to figure out how Singer could direct Valkyrie with Tom Cruise, The Mayor of Castro Street AND Superman 2, all in two years...

JLA confirmed: going into active development/pre-production, George Miller is directing and it's a pre-strike film. Only problem, Superman is now on hold.

<a href="http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=6321" rel="nofollow">http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=6321</a>

I'd love to see a part 2 with Routh. If the strike doesn't happen, expect THE MAN OF STEEL by 2010 (the year we make contact, heh heh, wink, wink).

Glad you checked up, but last I heard, it was on the table. I like this bit of opinion/news from CHUD, that basically says to wait-and-see:

I heard about the debunking, Kel, but when I researched the article, they said it's still on the table and they're checking out fan reaction.

Matt, Halloween wasn't, but I think some of the comedies of 2002-03/04 were pretty awful. Ecks vs. Sever was definitely a pre-strike film.

Heath, dude, the JLA motion cap rumor was debunked some time ago. George Miller and CO. are shooting for live action (thank God).

Nice piece though.

Hey Heath, thanks. So, by "...and a huge assortment of cheapie comedies and horror films." Do you mean Rob Zombie's Halloween Re-Make(which totally sucked as a horror but could be good as a comedy) I also know why crap horror movies and whatnot are such a big hit: Muvico at City Place. I mean, I sat through the whole movie and flinched once maybe twice. Where as the people in the row behind me were like: "RUN BITCH RUUUNNNNN!!!!!" As a huge wave made of popcorn, cups, dirty napkins, ice and spit wads rain down upon the poor soul sitting 10 seats to my right. It was at that moment that John, who just happened to be a black belt and professional UFC fighter, decided to kill the manager with his bare hands. It was a very interesting night.

Matt, welcome aboard! Hope you become a regular reader, my friend!

Shane, I like Smith, but I think Jersey Girl and Clerks 2 weren't as good as his others. My personal favorite films by him are the first four, and especially the first three (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy).

Some of the movies that came out because of the strike potential in the early part of the decade, which suffered: Men in Black 2 (script wasn't 100% done), Matrix 2 and 3 (this is probably a rumor to make the Wachowskis look better, but I heard that they rushed these films into production a year early to beat the strike deadline), and a huge assortment of cheapie comedies and horror films.

It's pretty sad that Hollywood is going through this. It's like noone cares about making good quality movies anymore (see: Metalocalypse, Episode: "Dethstars"). I don't want to be in a time where the only stuff on TV is more reality shows and reruns. I never really understood why reality shows are so popular in the first place. Reality TV needs to die, fast. And we need to strand Mark Burnett on an island surrounded by shark infested waters.
Transformers was so disappointing, it was like an excuse for product placement. I am tired of Hollywood butchering comic books. This needs to stop. And even though the Halo movie won't be out for a long time, I have to say, if they screw it up, heads will roll.

Someone should just keep telling Kevin Smith that there is a strike on all of the time so he no longer can make movies. The amount of talent he has is way overblown. His movies are terrible and so are his comics. A one trick pony who is probably more famous for selling his comics to finance his first movie than for any movies he has made.

That's a great piece, Heath. I've been wondering why the strike was supposed to affect the quality of movies coming out.
