Gary says:

Could be David Tennant.
Certainly a fan favorite.

If it’s Channing Tatum, Sam Worthington, Christian Bale, or Haley Joel Osment, there will be blood.

How about Malcolm in the Middle’s Frankie Muniz? Gooney looking to be sure and while wide-eyed on the Fox show, I could see it.

How about Freddy Rodriguez?

As far as excitement, I don’t think I have the words to translate my zeal. The Lord of the Rings films are outstanding samples of what can be created in modern-day Hollywood and I am ultra-eager to see what’s crafted with one of the coolest “Hollywoord-Marvel-Team-Ups” in Jackson and Del Toro.

Travis says:

I am really excited to see Guillermo del Toro’s take on the Hobbit.

William says:

it`s not mcavoy, dammit

Shamose says:

McAvoy gets my vote, he is fast becoming my favorite actor… though I am yet to see wanted, is it good? should I check it out?

Martin Freeman, Martin Freeman, no Whammies — STOP!

80’s game show joke.

Phil G says:

Oh what a tease, that Sir McKellen.

Mike E. says:

You KNOW it’s going to be Samuel L. Jackson, right? He’s like, in EVERYTHING!

Bane says:

Yo Rob,

Is Ewan McGregor still a possibility? I remember he was rumored a while back, wasn’t sure if he had been removed for some reason.

Bane

JJ says:

Bilbo was 50 in the book. Hobbits do have longer lifespans than humans, but it’s part of his character that he’s already in his early middle age (about 40 for a human), and in Jackson’s Fellowship of the Ring Gandalf notes that Bilbo “hasn’t aged a day” since their adventure in in Wilderland, 60 years previously. For that reason, I think the filmakers will cast older, ie Christopher Eccleston (or someone like that) has more of a chance than David Tennant.

Rob Keyes says:

@ Bane,

He was rumored but I think it was just fan speculation.

I love McGregor personally but I have trouble picturing him as a little hobbit :)

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

Megan Fox? Zoe Saldana? Selma Haiyek? Hey, as long as we are speculating…. I have my fantasies too. 8-) :-D

We all know it’s going to be Danny Devito. :-)

Bill Blume says:

@Gary, I too would love to see David Tennant get the part. He deserves to make a big break onto the silver screen.

And while I don’t doubt McAvoy could do the part, and do great… he’s just not my first choice.

DF says:

Martin Freeman would be PERFECT for the part.
If you think about it, the character of Arthur Dent which he played in “The Hitchhiker’s Guide” is incredibly similar to Bilbo Baggains. I think he’d be perfect.

Terry Erickson says:

Give Bilbo to Sharlto Copley.

Wikus and Bilbo are the same character, at least in “The Hobbit”, and there’s no one better to play it. Plus, Copley is already on the ins with Jackson.
