A sequel to the American remake of the classic British film The Italian Job, aptly titled The Brazilian Job, has been talked about ever since the first one was released back in 2003. And all of the stars, that is Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, Jason Statham, Mos Def and Seth Green, have enjoyed considerable success since (not because of it, but general success nonetheless).
Pretty much the only thing we’ve known up until this point is that one is going to be made and, of course, the title. Well thanks to an interview with producer Donald De Line about the upcoming Green Lantern movie, we have some info on the progress of just where The Brazilian Job is in the development stages:

“We’re trying right now. They all want to do the sequel. We have a version at Paramount that we’re talking very serious about, so hopefully, if we’re lucky in the next year we can pull it together. They’re all very successful and very busy, which is great, but they all have a real affection and passion for that movie, so they want to come back and do another, which is nice. We’ll get them together hopefully.”
I am happy to admit I was a fan of the remake of The Italian Job. No, it certainly wasn’t classic like the original one is (not even close, actually), but it was a fun caper movie and importantly it didn’t claim to be anything else. Unlike the original (which ends in such a way that leaves things ambigious but still truly ends it), the remake was a film very much suited for more films to follow and the brilliantly simple and obvious (not to mention carrying on the nature of the original) title is intriguing.
I really hope they manage to get this thing made, and that all of the original cast come back for another go at it.
Do you like the idea of a sequel to The Italian Job remake or should they just leave it at one?
The Brazilian Job is hoped for a 2011 release but no official date has been set as of yet.

Yes! The Itlaian Job is brilliant in that it managed to get all these brilliant but completly different actors together, action guy, comedy guy ect. and it was just great!
loved the first one and i think the second 1 will be just as good.(if it ever gets released)
I was exceited when I heard they were doing a sequel and then it dissapeared without a trace, go to know that it has reappeared.
I thought The Italian Job was awesome, Mark and Jason being the badasses they are, Mos Def was ok, Seth was hilarious, and good ol Charlize was hot as ever. It would be kind of hard to get Norton for the Sequel considering he supposedly died at the end of the 1st one.
I loved TIJ and would love to see a sequel. It was a great cast that seemed to have fun working together.
Bring ‘em all back ( * except Norton )
@bigDOG – Norton’s character gets taken away by the Russians but we never actually SEE them do anything to him , so he could easily be written into a sequel.
Personally , I am a fan of Norton but I don’t think they need to bring Nortons character back; I would prefer to see a new bad guy , instead
Do not count on Edward Norton returning for a sequel. He only did the first one because he had a contract obligation.
That would be great! I loved the first one (one of the few movies that are remakes that were done well) and I would like to see them carry over the energy from the first one into the sequel.
I’m slightly confused by all the positive comments concerning the first re-make of this, I mean of course it had Marky Mark so it can’t have been all bad, but seriously it was pretty awful. Now people seem to be saying that a sequel would be a good idea?! How can they even think of making a sequel? Who ever heard of a sequel to a re-make? It’s completely ridiculous..
YES!!!! I really want there to be a sequel! I have watched The Italian Job so many times! i love this cast and i would love to see them reunite! On the serious, the original is, well, original but the remake was surprisingly good too.
