Welcome to my weekly TV Wrap Up.
This week we’re chatting about the NCIS cast, Chuck season 3 insights, a bit of Fringe cast news and I ask a question about a character from Lost. I’m also going to touch on yet another alien invasion show from TNT. Also have some details on the DVD / Blu-ray release of season one of Lie To Me.
I wrap it up with my usual look at how shows did in the ratings from last week.

NCIS Spin-off Adds Cast
Linda Hunt will be joining the cast of the NCIS spin-off as a hard-nosed former film industry technician who oversees the “backroom” support staff.
Of note, Louise Lombard was let go from the staff, as the cast seems to be constantly evolving.
Is it me, or will we have a hard time getting past the ‘ghosts’ from Linda Hunt’s past?

Chuck Season 3 Tidbits
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Zachary Levi chats a bit about the upcoming third season of Chuck.
He talks about how folks are expecting “Orange Orange” to become a Subway and other ideas like that.
He also reminds us that next season is a 13-episode season, but if the ratings are good enough, NBC will add additional episodes. (That’s the part where it means “tell your friends.”)

Fringe Cast Grows
Meghan Markle (Deal Or No Deal, 90210) is joining Fringe as a recurring role in the upcoming season. She’ll be playing a brash and quick-witted FBI agent.
Well, at least she’s moving up from briefcases duty and teen angst shows.
Not to mention, if I weren’t already watching Fringe… well you get the drift.

Is Charlie Coming Back To Lost Or What?
What are the chances of Dominic Monaghan (Charlie) returning to the next season of Lost?
It depends on the rumors surrounding the ill-fated rocker.
He’s been seen having breakfast with showrunner Damon Lindelof. That could mean what? That two buds are having breakfast together? Or are they plotting the return of Charlie to the island in some form or fashion?
Your guess is as good as mine.

Lie To Me Season 1
The Blu-ray and DVD release of season 1 for Fox’s Lie To Me are due out on August 25th. The show is being released by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
The release will include 13 episodes, featurettes, deleted scenes and a gag reel. Here’s a listing of extras from both the Blu-ray and DVD packages:

Noah Wyle, Steven Spielberg and Alien Invasions
Noah Wyle has been snagged to headline a yet-to-be-titled sci-fi show on TNT that will involve yet another alien invasion plot.
The storyline kicks in gear approximately 6 months after an insidious evil alien species invades the Earth and Wyle will be the leader of the human resistance.
I’m a little disappointed that this premise sounds so much like another upcoming show that starts with a V. I expected a bit more originality out of Spielberg.

Oh man, I think I’m going to have to start watching Fringe again!
while i do like alien invasion movies/tv shows i dont want this 1. sounds like a v ripoff. by the way i loved v, both miniseries and even the short lived tv show
I like red …
I didn’t think Fringe needed much tinkering with other than give the Docs son (Joshua Jackson)something to do besides holding back of the hair of Anna Torv (Olivia)when she upchucks or needs a hug. Perhaps they are replacing the character Astrid, too bad I like her character but I admit she is certainly only used for grabbing coffee and feeding the cow. She is quite pretty, but in the chest department she certainly doesn’t match that shot of Meghan Markle/Ms. Headlights. Clearly the show runner think they need more cleavage/eye candy.
If I were 15 I’d think that was a good thing but at 45 I just hope she can act. Fringe fans look forward to a lot of cleavage and side shots of Ms. Markle.
Cleavage? I didn’t notice any cleavage in that picture? And I am sticking to that story if my wife asks.
LOL, Funny JKT, I was thing the caption to that picture “Fringe Cast Grows” was sort of tongue & cheek.
The year of alien invasions. V, District 9, and now Invasion.

Regarding “Alien Invation show”
Aren’t you guys being rather close minded. First of all “V” is a tv series…District 9 is a movie. Completely different things. The fact that the Noah Wylie show involves an alien invation plot doesn’t mean it will be anything like other shows. “V” and the “X Files”….both about alien invasions….nothing alike. Lets just wait for it to come out before shooting it down. Who knows? It could turn out to be the best show ever on TV……it could happen!?!
Oh…and I already watch Fringe, but…….DAMN!

I’m pointing out similarities in themes. I never said V or Invasion would suck. District 9, V and Invasion all share the same theme. Aliens coming to Earth.

wouldn’t that be nice if us earthers were the aliens on a newly discovered world on a new tv series instead? oops, now I have to go and trademark that idea before the networks get it.

Totally unintentional.. and mind your manners. This is a family oriented site… sort of. Good eye… I didn’t even realize I did that! The words I mean.
On FRINGE Casting:
I used to worry about when a show added women to their cast. Back in the day, that meant ratings were dropping. Heck, when “7 of 9″ was added to Voyager, that marked a historic uptick in ratings for the franchise!
And I’m in a hurry so I have to double check this, but I believe she is replacing Acevedo, who used his Facebook page to say he was done wrong and fired, though the studio says there’s more to that story and he wasn’t fired.
Eh, whatever… Now if they could just give Joshua Jackson more multi-line scripts and develop that boy, I would be even happier than I am now.
And red has always been my fave color.

There are two new animated movies out with same general theme, the titles escape me, but they are recent (or soon to be) releases. It seems your idea has already been stolen! Gotta be careful where you post ideas like that!

You guys are missing the point! All these alien themed shows are just a slew of cover ploys to divert our attention from the real threat of the on going invasion from various alien species (rumors are that one species even looks grasshoppers!) on the verge of over-running our planet within the next three years. Which is too bad for them since the world is due to be destroyed shortly after, around December of the year 2012!

I find it HYSTERICAL that wrestling ratings beat out anything on The CW. I don’t even know how the CW even qualifies as a network anymore. LOL.
I like Noah Wylie. I stopped watching ER after he left, and I have enjoyed the Librarian films, too. I will have to check out that show.
I might have to start watching Fringe again….
