THe most suprising box office news this weekend has to be Paranormal Activity which had a per theater average of 44,000..WOW!!! Will it continue to be this successful if it continues to expand?

Niall says:

@ greenknight333,

For the next few weeks it should do very well with the lead up to Halloween. I can imagine it’ll make some serious profit – I’ve heard that it cost less than 20 grand to produce!

Niall

Paranormal Activity cost $11K to make and I understand it’s going into wide release next weekend. It’s playing 45 miles away from me right now and hoping hoping it comes to my town next weekend. :)

I saw Paranormal Activity in Portland a few nights ago. After seeing it I’ve already convinced a huge number of friends to see it, which they did last night. I can see the wide release of Paranormal Activity being huge. Grats to Oren Peli.

“Capitalism: A Love Story grossed $2.7 million over the weekend for a $9 million total. Somewhere I hope that Chuck Heston is very happy.”

That’s 9 million too much.

Ken J says:

Capitalism should be free to watch, because charging to watch that movie is promoting capitalism… the economic ideal not the movie, lol.

What a hypocrite, he’s bashing capitalism, yet he’s earning money from ticket sales from the movie… Hello???

Sorry to hear about the box office for Whip It .
I enjoyed the film.

BlueCollarCritic says:

A Vacation reboot with Will Ferrel as Clark Griswold with Chevy Chase playing Clarks father would be a great way to do this and still let Chevy play a Griswold in a realistic way, as the grandfather. Not sure about his actual age but his recent TV appearences (don’t recal the show name) he clearly looks the age of a grandfather. He however has clearly not lost his comical skills as the show is hilarious.

M-Cat says:

Surrogates only did $32 million to this point? is that a joke? wow, I thought it would at least cover Bruce’s pay lol.

When is Deadpool going to get done if Reynolds is doing Green Lantern and this other government agent type movie?

@BlueCollarCritic

Chase was the bad guy in a few episodes of Chuck (an evil version of Bill Gates – wait is that sentence right?) and played it totally straight. Might be you seen that. I could see Ferrell in a National Lampoon Vacation movie, pretty much ideal for it imo.

Motorcade might surprise people .
Jon Cassar has done very well over at 24.
Len Wisemans loss might be our gain .

Andy S says:

Will Ferrell in a Vacation movie COULD work if they rein him in a bit, like Favs did in ELf. They DO need to use Chevy Chase though, as he is, and alway will be, Clark W. Griswold. Of course the could call it National Lampoon’s Retirement Vacation. LOL.

Ken J says:

They showed that Man vs. Wild episode with Will Ferrell the other day. It was pretty interesting, because every now and then he got serious and was just talking to Bear Grylls, and he’s perfectly normal, but of course most of the time he was being a goofball, lol.
