If the Conan movie will be more based on the stories by Howard, then great. I’d love to see some of those brought to life.
Like to see someone a bit more wild and raw than Arnie too.

Agree on the Escape from New York mess. Why bother? Let Carpenter make Escape from the Ghost of Mars or something. ;)

I get bagged on for calling films GARBAGE before I see them, well here’s a perfect example. A remake of Escape from New York….
Totally agree give Carpenter and Russell a chance to wrap up the story of Snake Plisken.
A remake, I will NEVER see out of protest. Sorry that’s how I roll……ยป

Personally I have no interest in Robin Hood or Conan.

I’m all for another James Mangold film. He keeps getting better and better.

“Why the remake?” I’ve been asking this question for years. One in every dozen remakes is actually worth watching, and very seldom are they anywhere near the quality of the original. It’s a sure thing, and a bankable name. That’s all.

Why? Because there’s money to be made cashing in on a known “brand” plus it’s less work to tweak an existing story than to have actually be creative and create a plot from thin air.

I agree completely, a remake is a complete waste of time. Escape from NY is one of my favorite films, it is so ridiculous it is good. when I first heard about a year ago about the remake my first thoughts were why?

a continuation of the series wouuld be much cooler. all of these old actors are bringing back their dead series, why not bring back Snake?

Yeah I agree Stan, let’s see an Escape from the United States movie!!!

With Kurt Russell, Michelle Forbes and Stacy Keech, well maybe just Michelle Forbes.

We know Kurt still has it after watching “Death Proof’.

Damn strait 790. russel isn’t done yet. if stallone can bring back rocky and rambo why can’t kurt get out there and escape again.

I was thinking an escape from las vegas would be cool, or perhaps an escape from disney world haha.

but seriously, Russel will always be snake, and I will never accept anyone else taking the role.

Yeah Stan I wrote a plot synopsis but like a moron I typed it up on the Sci-Fi channel poll post.
I can’t copy and paste it over her so if anyone wants to read it you’ll have to scroll down to the Sci-Fi Top 10 post to read it.

(I would think Escape from the US would be better after the ending in Escape from LA.)
And its also a cool title. (IMO).

Escape from NY: Fun movie. I agree with you guys that it would be a monumental waste of time for everyone.

Sequel or Prequel… fine. I think it would be great to see how a nation got to the point of making a whole city a prison. There’s tons of potential with that.

A sequel: We can make the whole planet a prison colony as technology advances and have Riddick visit it!! Now that would be cool.

But remake? Gimme a Break!

Well, that’s my 2 cents this time of day.

A prequel? For once I really like the sound of a prequel.
Carpenter did do a scene where Snake was captured. Be great to know about his past, what he did and why everyone thinks he is dead.

Well if they did a prequel they would be better off with recasting a younger looking Snake Plisken.
We could see his early career before the eye patch?
I’ve allways thought that his eye patch wasn’t becaue he had a bad eye but because he aimed better with the patch. (Just my theory).

If they do a sequel to EFLA they could use Kurt Russell.

I would prefer a sequel. !!

Hi Vic…

Could you please tell me why there is such a fuss about working with Brett Ratner? The same thoughts were voiced about who would be directing “Hef” ….

People in the online movie community just don’t like his movies. I don’t know if it’s all based on his “Rush Hour” movies or what (I’ve never seen 2 or 3). Personally I’m not on the Ratner hate-wagon.

Doesn’t mean I think he’s awesome, though.

I quite like Ratner.

Okay, he may not make deep movies - but he’s a good popcorn guy. I keep going on about it - but check out After the Sunset with Pierce Brosnan. It’s a light and fun movie!

I didn’t think after the sunset was good at all…I generally enjoyed Rush Hour ..Two was the same as one but in a different context and I never bothered with three…I thought MOney Talks was really funny back in the days before CHris Tucker became just a big mouth who could do a decent Michael Jackson impersonation. I thought X-Men 3 was okay and it probably had more action (less Story) than if Singer had continued with the franchise..I just feel really impartial towards Ratner and his movies..A few are good..A few are not..I guess he might be an even stephen director for me..

The only remake I can think of this early in the morning which was very good was Brian De Palma’s ‘Scarface’…

But I agree, give Carpenter controll to write, direct and score a 3rd movie. I think this could do really well in the cinemas too especially if he got a decent supporting cast (tho i personally prefer his choice of cult actors like steve bushemi, Bruce Campbell, Ernest Borgnine and Issac Hayes…)
