Well Tihanyi that view might work for some, but I did it the other way around and was pleased with the results. The time I sat in the theater passed surprisingly quickly and the experience was very good. I thought and felt, a story like this is once in a lifetime because the film industry doesn’t make this kind of movie. With such serious issues within as much as about fantastical subjects. Having both at the same time, would seem like they should cancel each other out. You couldn’t take the social issues seriously with grownups, even a small number, living out such fantastical ideologies and taken seriously by the public in general within the story. Yet they had done it and the whole thing works. The authors are even able to make you want to see more, even though their’s no need. That’s good film making.

It may take a long time 30 maybe 50 years but people will look back and make the argument that it’s the only super hero movie one ever needs to see.

Sorry folks, I don’t mean to be a snob but if you haven’t read the book you probably won’t appreciate the movie. This graphic novel broke all the old comic book rules. It led the way for folks to appreciate and accept graphic novels as true novels rather than comics.
The movie simply mimics what the original established. The movie seems long and boring because all the subtle nuances could not be fully appreciated without reading the book. The book provides much more depth in the humanity, shortcomings and motives of the various characters.
This ultimate cut gets much closer to reaching what the book is all about and I for one am looking forward to it. I still think the best way to appreciate Watchmen, by far, is to read the book and then watch the ultimate cut which is truly a visual feast for the enlightened mind. Case closed.

Just like you and lots of my friends, I have been waiting patiently for this, but will the U.K. get the DVD (not Blu-ray) version? We did not get the DVD version of the directors cut and there is no announcement here of the DVD of this. It’s looking like the pirates are going to have a bumper Watchmen Christmas in Region 2.

The Directors cut is the best version of this film.

What’s the deal with all the changes in this release?
First it was Dec then Nov 3rd now the 10th,,,wtf????

Does this film really need to be longer than it already was?

I’ll admit that i was a Watchmen virgin before seeing the film, but I don’t see what the big deal was. And it was so long!

I don’t know. The special features are certainly tempting, but I just don’t see how splicing The Black Freighter into the movie can work. It’s one of those distinctly comic-book kind of things that I feel Snyder left out of the other two cuts for a reason.

Not to mention, the changed ending renders Black Freighter completely pointless. In the book it was an allegory for a man going to hell, and was supposed to relate to Ozymandias and the choices he made. I just feel that, with the way the movie was shot, its going to be a pointless addition.
