according to Nikki Finke, WB wanted the January 20th ruling moved up to monday,
but while the judge is sticking to the 20th
Fox and WB have asked for a postponement in regards to the question of moving the date up .
SETTLEMENT TALKS HAVE BEGUN!
And they want a chance to work it out .

“By his own admission, Judge Feess is faced with an extremely complex legal case, with a contradictory contractual history, making it difficult to ascertain what is legally right. Are there circumstances here that are more meaningful, which shed light on what is ultimately just, to be taken into account when assessing who is right? In this case, what is morally right, beyond the minutiae of decades-old contractual semantics, seems clear cut.”

Unfortunately, if fair or not, what is morally right and just is not always legal or legally bound by an individual’s private sense of morality..Bottom line is that if FOX didn’t have a LEGAL claim to the rights of this film then the judge would have leaned his judgement to show such a case..However the judge did not and we have the resultant quagmire both studios are mired in…

I am not sure I want to even see this film anymore.. :(

@Greenknight

Yo, when I look over at you in the theater, after the end credits roll, and ask you, “was it worth it?” I guarantee your response is going to be: “HELL yes!”

@ ppnkof

You are probably right and I’m sure it’s just sour grapes for me right now anyhow..been waiting 20 years to see this so one little litigation is probably not going to stop me from seeing it sooner or later..hopefully sooner but this is getting old..All this press will probably draw a lot more people to see the film that ordinarily would not have seen it

@greenknight

If you’ve been waiting for the movie for 20 years then you may very well be disappointed due to your expectations.

Then again, I’d been waiting my whole life for an Iron Man movie and that sucker lived up to mine just fine. :-P

Vic

greenknight333 says:

Yeah Vic I may be disappointed by the theatrical version but I’m betting the driector’s cut with the Black Freighter storyline incorporated will be the one I have been waiting 20 years for..Let’s hope this does for me what Iron Man did for you!!

First, I’d like to say that I thought it was a very good, well-articulated letter and I felt the anguish of this artist who is trying to give birth to this child that he helped create. Second, this is FOX that we are talking about. Have you seen this guy named o’reilly on it?!? Talk about fair and balanced!! Fox has WB over a barrel and they will take the lion’s share of the profits from this movie. However, if they are stupid enough not to allow the movie to be released, the backlash of some verrrryy pissed off fans will be waaaaaaay more than they can handle. I personally will never watch another Fox show or movie in my lifetime. Sorry Simpsons, but you work for jackasses…

Silvereagle says:

At least now we all know why it’s called FOX… Watchmen is just another juicy Chicken :(
I couldn’t agree more with Lloyd.
Maybe it’s not to late for WB and Fox to compromise on a settlement, the fans just want to see the d@mn movie!

wingnut says:

Yet, I sit here watching the Eagles Giants game and see Watchment trailers….hrrrmmmm. Wonder why they would allow trailers to be viewed on Fox when the decision hasn’t been made.

wingnut says:

Too many beers during the game…I obviously meant Watchmen vs watchment.

Jess H. says:

This is really just irritaing now. At this point I really dont care who gets what in this but I agree with SilverEagle that people just wanna see the d@mn movie! lol

Rev says:

Hopefully, I will never obtain the ability to enjoy something I’ve paid someone other than it’s creator for.

If the court’s decision should rule against WB, wherein FOX gets the spoils–I won’t even pirate the film. FOX has become such a “hit-and-miss” company that all they can do now is reach out and take.
