I guess you're missing the irony of the Monday morning quarterbacking a two year old article thing.

Did it make a billion dollars? No. DId I even LOVE it? No. But $235MM is not an "epic fail."

So you guys are on twitter whining how somebody called you out on pimping this mess of a movie? You quote the gross to pretend it wasn't a failure, as if modern readers aren't savvy enough to know how meaningless the raw number is. Watchmen is a dated GN and trying to sell it as a mainstream flick was a mistake from the getgo. Visually glamorizing a book that was about unglamorizing the superhero shows a basic lack of understanding of the material. It tanked, and it deserved to. Only thing it accomplished was making Miller direct The Spirit himself so everyone could see how empty his "vision" actually is.

[...] Now that we’ve seen that, is there really any other reason to see Watchmen: The Director’s Cut? To answer that question for yourself, take a look at some of the other deleted scenes you’ll be seeing by going here. [...]

@ The Big Dentist

That's always been the rumor: Director's Cut first, Ultimate Cut (with Black Freighter in it) early next year.

According to AICN the new running time is 3 hours (approx), so they've only added another 15 minutes. Fair enough for most Director's Cuts, but I thought they might have gone to town on this.

Just to be an tedious old stoat, in the comic Grice doesn't pull a gun before entering the building...and of course he's not the one to get a cleaver through his skull either...

On the plus side, good to know Hollis Mason gets a proper death scene + montage, and that there's more of Malcolm Long. Maybe that might even include the flashback of where Kovacs got the material for his mask.

Thing is, as much as certain aspects of the movie made me want to go and boil my head, I WILL end up owning it in some form or another, I know it. Kofi, do you know if the Ultimate Edition is going to be this new cut plus Tales Of The Black Freighter then? Still haven't seen that, so I might wait for the full packeage if that's the case.
