They deleted my polite but negative comment from the official Fox tweetcast page here:

Seems like they don't want anyone rocking the boat.

Um, I'm not saying it was the greatest idea, but people involved with the show participated - so obviously it was OK with them.

"They could have done this in a way that wasn’t as flashy with the graphics but still conveyed the conversations - maybe something like a CNN newscrawler at the bottom of the screen."

How about not destroying the art form instead? Wouldn't that be even better? Perhaps people should be allowed to write messages on paintings in a gallery. Wouldn't that be a great idea? Then you could go into the gallery and see what your favorites had to say about the painting!

We received quite a few emails here last night complaining about the episode. I checked it out for a few minutes and the graphics did indeed take up about 1/3 of the screen.

You just know Fox programming execs asked themselves "What can we do to appeal to the new, hip "twenty-something" demographic?". That they came up with this nonsense is utterly embarrassing.

I find the tweeting to be very distracting. It covers almost half my TV screen and is much more obtrusive than the catch-up commentary on "Lost". FOX: please stop the tweeting!

"Well, they tried. I guess you have to give them some form of credit… don’t we?" I'll give them credit for an incredibly stupid idea that any intelligent person could have .... oh, yeah. Right.

Never mind.

What an absolute waste of my precious time! I'm looking forward to a Fringe episode I haven't viewed, only to have the entire show ( so far, at least, absolutely ruined by innocuous, vapid, meaningless drival (sp?) broadcast over half of my TV screen. Get over yourselves, twitter where you're supposed to, and leave my TV alone. Go Away!

This is like going to a movie and having the people next to you talk through the show.

what is wrong with fox?

I am inclined to ban this TV broadcast and the network.

not exactly like this but G4 tv does startrek2.0, ST:TNG 2.0, and lost 2.0 where they play repeats and have a running commentary scrolling on the sides/bottom of the screen they dont have any of the actors but lots of fanboys and trekers commenting and giving inside knowledge.
