The popular tabletop and strategy franchise Warhammer 40,000 is receiving a new installment in the form of Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, an upcoming story-driven RPG tactics game. The Warhammer 40K franchise is a very hot IP, with similarly story-driven Necromunda: Hired Gun having been the most recent video game adaptation.

In Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters' new reveal teaser trailer and press release, some specifics about the new game have been shared by developer Frontier Foundry. Players will step into the far-distant future of the 41st millennium to experience brutal, methodical combat and the story of the Grey Knights more than a decade into their founding. Daemonhunters will focus heavily on turn-based gameplay and traditional RPG systems to keep players on their toes in their fight against Chaos. The narrative will once again be written by mastermind Aaron Dembski Bowden, author of the The Horus Heresy novels set in the Warhammer universe.

Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is currently being developed by proven studio Frontier Foundry, developer of popular titles like Elite Dangerous, Zoo Tycoon, and Planet Coaster. Some may approach this upcoming release with trepidation after the less-than-stellar Elite Dangerous: Odyssey launch, but a return to slower, more tactical gameplay integrations could be good news for fans of Frontier Foundry's simulation and manager games. With a sprawling world to build off of, an unbelievably passionate fanbase, and a story from one of the most accomplished contemporary fantasy writers, Warhammer 40:000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters could make a big splash when it launches in 2022.
