War Machine is just Iron Man with bigger guns…Although if they want to make a movie out of the property I’m game since the more of these CBM that get made the better it is for we the fans!!

I hope the toy company isn’t writing the films.

First thing came to mind was all the different weapon versions of this action figure.

I smell Action Figure party !!!

790,

Actually, I could’ve sworn I already saw an Iron Man WARMACHINE action figure when IM was released– they called it the “stealth suit,” but if I remember right it had all the big guns of War Machine.

Whats the point of 2 iron man characters with big budget movies, isn’t there plenty of stories to spend time developing about one Ironman superhero. Seems redundant and kinda stupid.

Warmachine in Ironman 2 & 3? Hopefully, if the story dictates it. Spin-off? Highly doubtful.

I would love to see both suits on screen together fighting a foe that IM couldn’t beat alone (can you say HULK SMASH!! :-) ). Afterwards, Stark would create the Hulkbuster armor.

War Machine in Iron Man 2, I thought that was a given, I believe it was stated before Iron Man even came out.

War Machine with a spin-off sounds more like ‘can we make any profit?’ instead of ‘let’s make an awesome movie’. It could be good — but probably wouldn’t.

What I’m saying is that he is ‘known’ as Iron Man’s sidekick, granted he has his own stories but would we really want to see a ‘Robin’ movie…? *thinking* Maybe a ‘Nightwing’ movie — that’s my point –the ‘War Machine’ film would have to graduate the character and, like his solo stories, I say it would need to be darker.

STUDIOS:

I would steer clear unless you got a team of professionals dedicated to both the story material, character and quality filmmaking. But… what do I know.

I just hope they don`t show much about War Machine cause the movies are about IRON MAN!
Also, I thought Favreau said he would rather consider The Avengers film to be the third part, than doing a third one (cause they always suck).

“War Machine with a spin-off sounds more like ‘can we make any profit?’” Yeah High Kalibur, makes me wonder if Marvel won’t sell this idea off, after “IM3?”

Iron Knight,

I don’t know if he (Favreau) said that but I think making the Avengers third film for Iron Man is a great idea — especially done right, ‘The Avengers’ could be Incredible Hulk 2 and Iron Man 3! A great idea! they should tie up the climax to intertwine all the characters stories. Could be really great or horrible. I hope great!

Even in the comics I thought that War Machine was just a lame re-tread of IM .
War Machine Iron Man.
New Coke Coke .

I’d be down with that! Plus, more Marvel films is a good thing IMO.

Yah, I really hope that Iron Man is still the star of the next film even with War Machine.

And spin offs are usually pretty bad, and this don’t sound any different…

I just hope IM2 and 3 will be just as great as the first one or better.

I don’t think a spinoff will be decided on until after his appearance in Ironman 2. If it works, and there’s room in the story between Ironman 2 and 3, I’d say a spinoff is cool if it intertwined with those films and had Robert Downey appearances in it.

As for Marvel, I’ve read articles here and there mentioning with their recent success and hopeful successes of 4 huge mega blockbusters on the slate, they may try to push financing and production to pump out 3 flicks a year rather than 2 in the years to come.

I love to see Marvel studios in charge of their own material rather than Fox pissing on all of the source stuff with their flicks.

Yah, but would they be able to save the franchises that Fox already has the rights to like X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc? Or are they just kind of lost forever?

Whatever they do, PLEASE get Terrence Howard out. He is NOT War Machine. It’s like getting Bronson Pinchot to play Batman!

Please, Jon.. get Michael Jai White.. Michael Jai White.. Michael Jai White..

@Jae Senn

That’s not going to happen (although I agree). I always pictured Rhodey as more of a Wesley Snipes kind of guy.

He was today on “the View” and he did say he WILL be back on IM2 and possibly having his own spin off… i am sure we will be able to see this on you tube in no time…

I dont think they should go all out with all those movies + spinoffs so early, it will make Iron Man gimmicky, plus unless they got some super talented writers, people will get tired of seeing the same Iron suit, red gold or silver.

I think a spin-off movie is incredibly possible. A 2nd rate character like Elektra landed one from Daredevil and Marvel Studios has been talking about the X-Men Origin Spin-off movies. They seem to be en vogue.

Jae Senn said,

Well of course Wesley Snipes would be ideal, but he’s in jail now, isn’t he?

So, the next best deal is Michael Jai White.

Howard is too soft as War Machine. Maybe he’s more suited for a pink-colored armor or something.

Yup, that was my problem with Terrence in the role.

BTW folks, I’ve added the audio interview to the post above.
