Marvel's WandaVision set photos confirm SWORD from the comics will appear, and reveal a first look at adult Monica Rambeau played by Teyonah Parris. Earlier this year, Marvel Studios wrapped up the Infinity Saga with Avengers: Endgame, closing out the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far. Then at San Diego Comic-Con this summer, Marvel head Kevin Feige unveiled the MCU's Phase 4 slate, which includes both theatrical movies and Disney+ TV shows. One such series is WandaVision, which, as the title indicates, will focus on Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany).

Little is known about WandaVision, aside from it being set in the 1950s. At SDCC, Feige confirmed the adult version of Monica Rambeau will appear in the series, with Parris taking on the role originated by Akira Akbar in Captain Marvel. It's expected WandaVision will deal with Vision's death in Avengers: Infinity War, since the character was one of the few not revived in Endgame. Further, Feige more recently confirmed that WandaVision will officially give Scarlet Witch her superhero name, since it hasn't yet been used in the MCU. Now, new WandaVision set photos reveal more tidbits of information about the series.

Today, JustJared posted WandaVision set photos that depict both Olsen and Parris on the set of the Marvel Studios Disney+ production. While the photos of Olsen's Wanda don't reveal much, there's one image of what appears to be a SWORD security officer standing outside the organization's offices. Further, Parris' Monica can be seen walking out of differently labeled offices, but her ID badge appears to feature the same SWORD logo as seen in the other images.

In the only official images from the series, revealed exclusively at D23 and CCXP, WandaVision depicts retro Wanda and human Vision in a 50s setting. However, these set photos indicate at least some of the series will take place in the modern MCU. That was likely given Parris' introduction of an older Monica Rambeau, but now it seems her character will also be linked to SWORD, which may have already been introduced. One of the Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credits scenes revealed Skrull shapeshifter Talos had been posing as Nick Fury, while the real Fury was relaxing on what appeared to be a spaceship. Many MCU fans made the connection that the ship was likely SWORD - short for Sentient World Observation and Response Department, the space-based equivalent of SHIELD - though that hasn't been officially confirmed yet.

Still, considering Fury, Talos and Monica's connection to each other through Captain Marvel, it would make sense that they'd work together in the modern day MCU. Based on the Far From Home credits scene, it appears Fury has formed SWORD in his time since SHIELD was disbanded in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and he now works with his allies Talos and Monica Rambeau. Of course, this raises the question of whether Fury and/or Talos will appear in WandaVision, which now seems like a possibility but may not happen since one or both of them could be in space.

Additionally, it remains unclear how SWORD and Monica will connect to the 50s sitcom setting that's been teased in the show's official images. With WandaVision currently filming, more insight may be gleaned, but these first set photos have already revealed some interesting details about the upcoming Marvel Studios Disney+ series.
