I was afraid, after Rodriquez and Favreau withdrew from the earlier John Carter of Mars projects, that this would never be made. The books are so perfect for the current state of the art of film CGI! I want to see John Carter and Tars Tarkas on battle thoats or fliers under the hurtling moons of Barsoom.

However, how will Disney cope with a princess who is virtually naked (except for some ornaments) the entire time? What about Carter’s relationship with the giant Green Martian female Sola?

This is not a problem that Cinderella or Belle or Pocahantas every presented.

I had actually never heard of the before you guys mentioned it here on Screenrant.

The movie (like the book) is going to be wild, it’ll be great to see what they come up with.

My only issue with the book is how hokey it could get in a hurry. This could either be a curse or a blessing in the screen adaptation.

Stanton is a great choice! I’m so excited for this! How many starts and stalls have we had on this! It’s about time to realize this film? Of course it won’t come out till 2012?! Isn’t that when the world is suppose to end? Now, I KNOW I’ll never get to see it. (Sarcasm)

I used to love the John Carter comics along with Jonah Hex…STanton will make an awesome movie and everyone knows this..It’s one to mark on the calender for 2012…

Great if they took a Hellboy 2 approach. CGI mixed heavily with live creature effects and animatronics.
Mix in the set designs of Flash Gordon, that would be something to see!

Oooohhhhh… I am so excited. I bought the first book on a whim. Was not expecting a story written in 1911 to be this good. I just home they can to this story justice. Great that it’ll be live action. Do it like 300 or Sky Captain if they want.

Yes, I’m glad this is finally getting made- and the direction this is taking is not that far from the direction when it was considered for Kerry Conran (Sky Cap’n + World Of Tomorrow), although I was curious how Jon Faverau would have done it as well (before Iron Man) ….)I am somewhat familiar with the novels as well as the comics spinoff from the early to mid 80’s (Marvel).

Also, since Mouse House dropped the Narnia flicks, they might need a new franchise, and cross their fingers…

Would love to see this. Bound to have a lot of CGI but real action would be very impressive.

Does hark back to those scifi/fantasy movies I used to love.
