The Walking Dead season 8 will be the most action-packed season on television since The A-Team went off the air, according to one of the series' actors. The zombie drama has had its ups and downs over the years, despite consistently being the most-watched drama on cable television. Although the past few seasons have slowed and kept many of the core characters apart from each other, the climactic season 7 finale brought them all back together in preparation for an all-out war with Negan and his band of Saviors.

The upcoming season 8 premiere not only picks up where the season 7 finale left off -- with Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom banding together to battle Negan's Saviors -- but also marks the show's 100th episode. It's rare for shows to cross that milestone, and The Walking Dead wants to make sure that the episode kicks off one of their best and most action-packed seasons yet. According to one actor, season 8 will essentially be non-stop action with explosions around every corner.

Seth Gilliam, who plays Father Gabriel on the AMC drama, recently propped up The Walking Dead season 8 in an interview with EW ahead of the show's highly-anticipated return next month. He compared the season to an episode of The A-Team as well as to an '80s action movie starring the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.

"[Season 8 is] like a Schwarzenegger versus Stallone action thing from the ’80s. I think there are, like, 10 explosions an episode. Every time you turn around, somebody’s shooting something or blowing something up. There’s some serious action that I don’t think we’ve seen on television since The A-Team went off the air."

Of course, the '80s birthed the action movie star that Hollywood has been attempting to bring back in recent years, so why not bring some of that action back on television? Melissa McBride, who plays the fan favorite character, Carol, echoed similar statements, saying her character is "blowing things up" throughout the season, and to "cover your ears." In fact, The Walking Dead cast members have repeatedly stated since season 7 concluded that the upcoming season will be their biggest and most action-packed yet.

Although the action has been a focal point with regard to the show's marketing, the war with Negan isn't the only thing people are curious about in season 8. One of the main mysteries that's drawing up numerous fan theories is, what's going on with Old Man Rick? Hopefully there will be time for answers to that question in between all the action.
