Walking Dead Season 3 Poster The Walking Dead Season 3 Poster: Enter Michonne & The Governor!

October may seem like a ways away – but eager fans were treated to a sneak peek of the new poster for the upcoming third season of AMC’s The Walking Dead. With Comic-Con 2012 just around the corner, AMC is slowly giving us a closer look at the mysterious Michonne and the ruthless Governor.

The new darker toned poster features the katana wielding Michonne on one side with her chained zombie companions and the beguiling Governor on the other with his hand appearing to be extended in friendship. As fans of the comic series know The Governor arises as a new hope for the survivors until his true malignant intentions are revealed – but the most foreshadowing feature of this poster might be the less polished Rick himself, whose comic book counterpart’s run-in with the Governor left a lasting impression.

While most of the major season three info is expected to come from next week’s The Walking Dead Comic Con panel, we do know the show returns for its 16-episode third season in October and will feature the much-anticipated return of fan-favorite Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) as well as some big changes for young Carl (Chandler Riggs) with executive producer Glen Mazzarra even calling him a “child soldier.” Mazzara recently had this to say about the start of season 3:

“The entire landscape has fallen to zombies. The entire world has collapsed, the apocalypse has taken over, the zombies have taken over, there’s no safe place. And I think in the past our characters thought they could find some safe harbor, and now there’s just no good hiding place at all.”

This year’s Walking Dead comic-con panel will officially introduce Danai Gurira as Michonne and David Morrissey as The Governor as well as feature the majority of the current cast. Those lucky enough to be there will be treated to not only an in depth Q&A session but an official sneak preview trailer of season 3. If you can’t make it to the panel, stay tuned to Screen Rant for liveblog coverage as well as other behind-the-scenes info.

  4. Not sure about this Michonne Character !
Doesn’t feel right,a bit over the top and then those Chained Zombies !
Worry with out Frank the Show loses it into some stupid laugh Parade !

    • If you have doubts of Michonne, then you obviously haven’t read the comics…

      • Yes,I haven’t !
Just know it from the TV Show !
So hope I am wrong as it seems you know something i don’t :)

        • Michonne is a huge character off the comic. I would say people remember Michonne, The Governor, and Rick(just because he is the main character) from the comics.

  5. O love it

  6. Ohh man rick looks even more darker then at the end of season 2 cant waitt

  7. Season 2 had some dull parts but the ending was awesome when Rick finally took total control. This poster makes me excited for the third season!

  8. I’m excited for Merle to come back. I hate his character as he’s a real a-hole, but I’m interested to see the shock in everyone when he returns.

    • I love Merle’s character because he is such an a-hole. His monologue up on the roof during the intro of the season 1 episode Vatos was great. Can’t wait to see how the dynamic changes when he makes his appearance. Sure his reappearance will put Daryl into a Moral Dilemma.

  9. Yay another season of people getting killed because of Rick Grimes. Awesome !

    • Who was killed because of Rick?

  10. To whom this may concern: I want to say i am in aww because the people who have put together this show are really amazing i love all of you.I would love to work on the show as like someone they found with their family trying to survive like everybody else but they are on their last life line if any producer gets this email i would be very happy. As the characters on the show should do stay strong. If you get the e-mail please write back,Ella
