With the highly-anticipated season 3 premiere of AMC’s hit post-apocalyptic thriller The Walking Dead less than two weeks away, the network is treating excited fans to some fresh zombie drama a bit early with a set of related webisodes.

The four, 5-10 minute minisodes titled The Walking Dead: Cold Storage went live yesterday on AMCTV.com and stars Josh Stewart (The Collector, The Dark Knight Rises) as a young man named Chase, who is desperately trying to reach his sister in the early days of the zombie apocalypse. Chase takes up temporary shelter in a storage facility after fleeing an onslaught of approaching undead, where he is saved by a former employee named BJ (Daniel Roebuck) – unfortunately for Chase; zombie-apocalypses turn men into monsters in more ways than one.

Joining Stewart and Roebuck in Cold Storage is actress Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever) as Kelly and Chris Nelson (Kill Bill) as Harris – with Emmy Award winning special effects guru Greg Nicotero developing, producing, and directing the web series.

This year AMC is pulling out all the stops for the upcoming season of their award-winning flagship series, including the addition of some of The Walking Dead comic-book series’ wildly-popular characters, such as the villainous Governor (David Morrissey) and the sword-swinging Michonne (Danai Gurira). Season 3 of The Walking Dead will also see our ill-fated Atlanta survivors; led by former deputy sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), taking refuge in an abandoned prison that turns out to not be as abandoned as they first thought.

Along with the Cold Storage minisodes, AMC is generating buzz for The Walking Dead season 3 with their ‘Use Your Brain. Give Blood.’ blood drive set-up with the American Red Cross, which gives one lucky fan the chance to win a 3 day, 2 night trip to the season 4 Walking Dead set. The contest is open to people over 21, residing in the US and Canada (except Québec) and ends Monday October 22th.
