Fans of The Walking Dead franchise have seen plenty of content based on the original comic book series from creator and lead writer Robert Kirkman ever since the property was initially introduced in the first volume of hand drawn panels published by Image Comics way back in 2003. Alongside the long-running published volumes of the series’ core narrative has been the popular AMC show that has served to introduce the world and characters of Kirkman’s imagination to an even wider audience.
And as if that weren’t enough exposure, gamers have even been able to get in on the action courtesy of video game developer and publisher Telltale Games’ increasingly popular series of point-and-click adventure titles – which will see the release of its latest mini-series featuring fan favorite character Michonne later this month.
Coming off of the highs still viscerally sustained and felt after the stunning conclusion to the second season of the video game series proper, Telltale has just announced via press release that The Walking Dead: Michonne will see the release of the first episode of its three-part narrative arc on February 23rd, followed by episodes two and three sometime in March and April respectively, for the sum total of $14.99 USD. The new batch of episodes will focus on Michonne’s travails during her absence from the comic series between volumes 126 and 139, with an emphasis on a journey aboard series mainstay Pete Anderson’s ship The Companion. You can read the description for the first episode below:
“In this premiere episode, ‘In Too Deep,’ Michonne joins Pete and his crew on the sailing ship The Companion as they cruise the coast for survivors and supplies. When a desperate signal for help draws them to a scene of horrific massacre, Michonne and the crew are lead further to the floating survivors’ colony of Monroe, which may just be harboring the person responsible for the carnage.”

It should come as no surprise to fans of the franchise that Michonne will also be struggling with the horrors of her past, and will carry many feelings of loss and regret with her on said journey. But such an existentially debilitating state, matched by the physically real torment of further horrors amid the Monroe colony, should provide for plenty of tense drama and difficult decisions for players to take part in and await with eager anticipation once the series gets underway.
In the meantime, future players can catch a sneak peek of the first five minutes of the premiere episode on Sunday, February 14th, at 8:30 EST/5:30 PST, on the Telltale Games YouTube channel where the game’s development team will introduce the new series to anyone who might be watching. Until then, here’s to more content from The Walking Dead franchise as told by Telltale.
The Walking Dead: Michonne mini-series will be available on February 23rd, 2016 on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, followed by compatible releases on iOS devices via the Apple Store and Android-based devices via Google Play and the Amazon App Store starting on February 25th, 2016.
