It wasn’t hard to imagine that AMC would bring its current ratings champion The Walking Dead to this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. After all, the show perfectly combines two of the most popular mediums on display during the event, and given the attention the show has garnered in Comic-Cons past, this year will probably set some sort of new precedent.

In addition to the ragtag group of apocalypse survivors, AMC is also bringing along the Breaking Bad crew – just in case you weren’t already aware the fifth and final season kicks off Sunday, July 15.

Impressively, The Walking Dead will be represented at its panel by nearly the entire cast – well, those who weren’t dismembered, zombified or shot during season 2. On hand will be Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori Grimes), Laurie Holden (Andrea), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), Steven Yeun (Glenn) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene). Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes) was supposed to be in attendance, but staying true to his character, wandered off and no one has bothered to find him yet.

But likely more to everyone’s excitement, newcomers Danai Gurira (Michonne) and David Morrissey (The Governor) will be on hand to smile and avoid giving spoilers regarding their highly anticipated roles in season 3. Rounding out the panel will be executive producers Glen Mazzara, Gale Anne Hurd and Robert Kirkman, as well as special effects supervisor and co-executive producer Greg Nicotero.

Like other shows expecting a large audience – Game of Thrones and The Big Bang Theory - The Walking Dead will be heading to Hall H for its panel, which, naturally, will be moderated by Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick.

Saturday will see Breaking Bad take center stage in Ballroom 20 with Bryan Cranston (Walter White), Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman), Anna Gunn (Skyler White), Dean Norris (Hank Schrader), Betsy Brant (Marie Schrader), RJ Mitte (Walt Jr.) and everyone’s favorite fixer, Jonathan Banks (Mike Ehrmantraut), all present for the hour-long panel. Creator and executive producer Vince Gilligan will also be present.

Additionally – or more likely because he was already going to be there – AMC will have Kevin Smith and his Comic Book Men around as part of Smith’s usual Comic-Con Q & A session.

Other than who will be in attendance, the details are still anyone’s guess as to the kind of footage either show will bring. The Walking Dead has been filming for a few weeks now, so there’s a decent chance a season 3 trailer or snippet of Michonne cutting down some walkers could be shown. Similarly, with Breaking Bad set to make its season premiere just the following evening, who’s to say the panel won’t include an extended look at the season’s first episode?

The Walking Dead panel will be Friday, July 13th @1:25pm in Hall H, while Breaking Bad will have its panel on Saturday, July 14th @6:45pm in Ballroom 20. Kevin Smith’s panel (a.k.a Comic Book Men) will also be on Saturday @10pm in Hall H.

  1. I can wait!

  2. “Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes) was supposed to be in attendance, but staying true to his character, wandered off and no one has bothered to find him yet.”

    That was funny.
