while i do not like anime at all, i must say as a child voltron was one of my favorite shows to watch. i agree with kane on the fact that voltron is set on a fantasy type world. but me thinks that the suits want to save some money on the special effects, esle they would have to deal out the big bucks to construct weird looking monstrosities. i do hope that when this movie is completed and out in the theaters it is a smash hit. voltron is the best. hey SCREEN RANT any news on the up-and-coming he-man movie? HE-MAN is the best. and how about THUNDERCATS?

"Hollywood bugs me. It really, really bugs me."

That's EXACTLY why I started this site over 4 years ago!

Voltron, meh... if they come out with a Gigantor movie, then I'll get excited. :-)

As a huge Voltron fan as a kid, I've been eager to see this film happen... if only out of a nostalgic curiosity... but what's with the "post-apocalyptic tale of survival set in New York City and Mexico" thing?

Why does everything have to be set on Earth? Voltron is set in a fantasy world, on an entirely different planet. Can't they just leave it that way?

Hollywood bugs me. It really, really bugs me.

I've been following what news I could about this project for a while now, though not nearly as closely as I did Transformers. Personally, this sounds like it is as faithful to Voltron as Bay's Transformers was to Transformers. It sounds like there will be so many departures, both in terms of characters and story, that it will be unrecognizable to long-time fans. Granted, what I know comes only from a script review of the first draft and not first hand knowledge, but after Transformers, I'm even more pessimistic than usual.

The irony is, in the hurry to "seize" the moment on giant robot movies that Transformers started, they'll gloss over the things that require time and attention, but are necessary for worthwhile story to develop.

Considering that Transformers made oodles of money in spite of having no story, means that it may even be more of an afterthought.

It's like having permission from the audience to give them crap, which is why I hate what Transformers did all the more.
