Personally, this sounds like it is as faithful to Voltron as Bay's Transformers was to Transformers. It sounds like there will be so many departures, both in terms of characters and story, that it will be unrecognizable to long-time fans. Granted, what I know comes only from a script review of the first draft and not first hand knowledge, but after Transformers, I'm even more pessimistic than usual. Considering that Transformers made oodles of money in spite of having no story, means that it may even be more of an afterthought. It's like having permission from the audience to give them crap, which is why I hate what Transformers did all the more. The irony is, in the hurry to “seize” the moment on giant robot movies that Transformers started, they’ll gloss over the things that require time and attention, but are necessary for worthwhile story to develop.
