Jim Carey says:

I have 2 episodes of Smallville and the final 2 of Jericho (no big hurry, since it was tanking) to catch up on, after I finish getting up to speed by watching the Battlestar Galactica Season 3 DVDs.

790, I agree that Smallville is angst-filled. But it also has some of the highest production quality I’ve seen in a series. There was a scene where an out of control car came hurling up in the air, over a hill, spinning. The driver fell out in mid-air, Clark caught her, ran ahead of the car, which smashed into the ground. He crouched over the girl so that his body shielded her as pieces of the car flew everywhere. I have learned to record this show in the highest recording quality so that I can relish the occasional scene like this. I watched it over and over, even a frame by frame view had each fraction of this scene make perfect sense. No blurs, no silhouettes, no crash dummy. This is not the car-catching image that Kel referred to, but it sure was a beautiful moment in super powerdom. To be fair, Clark does not usually use his powers quite so dramatically. (Although, Bizarro finally gave him a worthy opponent.)

Oh, and, Iron Monger’s head is proportionally as small as the Incredible Hulk’s.

Well like to disagree with whatever Andys saying. Lol!

And I do hate Teen angst and werewovles.

Vic says:

Though it has had it’s ups and downs, overall I’ve enjoyed Smallville over the years. However this year it has really descended into cheesey melodrama.

Jim Carey says:

790, you probably don’t want to ever meet me

Jim Carey says:

I was a Teen Angst Werewolf.

790 says:

Well Jim I certainly don’t want to watch any of your dvds.

Except maybe the BSG season 3.

KEL says:

QUOTE FROM ANDY: “…is there some bible somewhere that says that new stories cannot be created from an idea of another person?”

Yes.

And new stories are NEVER a problem, in fact, they’re welcomed, COMPLETE REINVENTIONS/REVISIONINGS OF ICONS ARE NOT WELCOME. That’s exactly what Smallville is. Sure, they can do reinventions of iconic characters like Superman, but don’t ever expect longtime fans like myself to jump on the bandwagon and enjoy it. Why don’t you just give the Statue of Liberty shades and an ipod while you’re at it?

“I’m so sick of people dissing Smallville that have only probably watched it ONCE or twice…”

A show like that you don’t need to watch more than once or twice to know that it’s complete crap and has no regard for the status quo of the comics.

“…while living in mommy and daddy’s basement.”

Typical of you to say that. That’s usually the first thing that you non comics people pull out your asses to beat us comic book people over the head with, that we are bums who live in our parents’ basements. Typical low brow remark.

“OMG! The COMIC BOOK didn’t have Lex in Smallville!”

If that’s the only problem you see with Smallville then you really don’t know much about the comics.

“…the show is supposed to be about CLARK KENT, NOT Superman.”

Exactly. CLARK KENT. In Smallville. That means there should be NO Lois, Jimmy, Perry, Daily Planet, Metropolis, Luthor, Flash, Green Arrow, etc, the show is waaaaay off base. It’s no longer just about Kent anymore, they’ve now managed to distort the Superman mythos as well with their mediocre interpretation.

“Who CARES if a TV show with new ideas, doesn’t follow canon exactly??”

No one really cares that it doesn’t follow it EXACTLY, the problem fans have is that it doesn’t follow it at all.

“The stories are good, the characters are portrayed in the SPIRIT of the originals…”

Your comment on how good the stories are is debatable, however the characters’ “spirit” is far from the original comics. Again, just by that statement you show your lack of knowledge regarding them.

Screen Rant says:

BTW, regarding the “catching the car” issue: I verified that there IS a family in the car in that scene. :-)

790 says:

Yea you can easily see them in the front seat.

The second picture where Iron Man is trying to not drop the car down to hard remind me of the 1st Comic book image of Superman when he’s holding up that car.

But unlike ripping this off from SM I see it more of an homage.

I’m sure there’s going to be vehicles that Iron Man does throw at Monger but they will be empty.
Iron Man will more than likey have hightech vision capabilties enabling him to see thru cars. So that he would be able to tell at a glance if they had people in them.

We know from the trailers so far that Stark uses his powers to protect people.

I’m really thinking it will beat “Superhero Movie” this year.
Btw is tracking at 3.4m so far on Friday. Putting it on a course to maybe break at 10mil. (Big bomb)

Brian W. says:

I just finished reading Iron Man: Extremis. The movie seems to borrow a few ideas from it. Like having Tony being captured in the middle-east. The armor is very similar. And guess what, at one part he gets a car thrown at him and catches it…well sorta. He catches it and then it crushes him.

Surma says:

Oh hey KEL, about Iron Man talking. This scared me a bit, but when I was checking out the new Iron Man swag the toy sounded like the Black sabbath (I AM IRONMAN). It better not be like that in the movie.

New IM TV spot over at Superhero Hype!!

KEL says:

Yeah, I saw it, it was great. I watched all three.

Definitely looking forward to this film most this year….

Also (soory to bring this back up but I couldn’t resist), the F4 films were MUCH closer to the F4 comix than Smallville is to the Superman comix.

And I don’t see how Iron Monger picking up a car is copying anything we’ve seen before (Action #1, Superman Returns pics, Smallville, etc). Besides, the car has a fam in it and is being picked up to hurt someone with (unlike what Superman was doing with the car in the afformentioned). Vehicles in comics, movies, etc, have always been thrown around, why would you guys think this is something of a homage to anything anyway?

Thanks, Surma. I hope he doesn’t sound like that in the movie either. Why haven’t we heard actual Iron Man speak yet? Maybe he doesn’t speak? :-0

Andy says:

KEL, since you haven’t SEEN the episode of Smallville that I am talking about, why can you say it isn’t the same?? It’s in Season 4, the episode is called “Pariah.” The shooting angle and the effect are VERY similar to the one in the above photo. THAT IS ALL I AM SAYING. Chill, dude!!

Andy says:

Here’s the link to the scene on YouTube. I must have misremembered (LOL) the scene, because it is not exactly like the one in IM, but you can see how it is similar…
