New Video For Wolverine Showcases Popular Mutant Characters

x-men origins: wolverine posterEvery day we’re seeing new TV spots, images and clips for the upcoming 20th Century Fox production of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

With only a week and a half away till the movie’s premiere, the studio’s marketing department is throwing everything at us to draw in the crowds for that ever-important opening weekend. The movie has to make big bucks opening weekend because the weekend after comes Star Trek … and the weekend after that Angels & Demons, then Terminator Salvation, then Up and the list goes on and on as the summer tent-pole season begins with Wolverine’s origin story.

There are quite a few TV spots out there for the Marvel Comics-based superhero movie and we’ve covered most of them here on Screen Rant. The remaining few TV spots which focus on characters like Emma Frost are featured in this USA Weekend exclusive video which combines scenes from many of the character profile videos that have been made available online this week.

Watch and see what you think:

I really enjoy this video. I think they’ve cut the good parts from many of the spots and put them together nicely for this teaser. I hope this movie entertains me more than X3 did and I hope the characters we see here are portrayed well in the movie (as best they can knowing what we already know about certain character alterations).

What do you think of the trailer and will you be there May 1st?

  1. Kinda lame if you ask me, looks like some attempt at a mutant PSA. Personally i thought it was stupid. Plus Deadpool didn’t say anything.

  2. Agree with Tiny.

No more trailers for me until the big day, they seem more and more like..what’s the term?

    Public Relations

  3. nah i think ill wait till dvd

  4. X-Men 4 .

  5. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

  6. i’m keeping my hopes down so I won’t be disappointed with the movie… though I tried that for Dragonball and that didn’t work lol

  7. I’m excited!

    I think it looks… “fun.”

Which is exactly what the second and third movies lacked.

  8. Lame trailer
    still excited
though, i already know that they screwed up all the characters…..
    Fox messes everything up

  9. Fox does screw everything up but I just might see it. Having the RotF trailer before the movie does sway my decision a little to go.

  10. Eh, it did seem kind of like a dorky Public Service Announcement.

    Vic

  11. I’m avoiding watching any more trailers for Wolverine, Star Trek and Terminator. I don’t want any more of the movie spoiled for me. I’m excited about all those films, even though the previous trailers I watched for Wolverine were less than spectacular.

@Alex…how can you say the 2nd X-men film wasn’t fun? It was easily the best movie of the 3!! I think X-3 failed so miserably because of how good X-2 was. To compare the two is like comparing filet mignon and hot dogs. Both are good, but the filet (being X-2) is WAY more satisfying.

  12. andy s,

you cant really spoil wolverine any more than you already have, youve admitted several times on TMB that you downloaded it

  13. i meant for yourself

  14. @ Andy-
It was merely a juxtaposition of two movies. Not necessarily comparing them to one another, but instead to the slightly more memorable and interesting first movie.

Honestly, they failed to hit the mark as far as fun goes. That could be because it didn’t do any justice to the source material. (ie, what happened to Scott? Why show the Phoenix at the end if you’re just going to swap it out and make Phoenix something completely different and off-base in the third movie)

You know, the usual fanboy rubbish. It just didn’t have a good feel to it.

And three, well- three was an abomination in the most sincere form of the word. It lacked direction, acting, story. Everything about it was a mish-mash of bad ideas and even worse execution.

Origins, however, seems to show a much better side of the characters. Sure, it may retcon a whole lot of story, and it certainly may take liberties with that it doesn’t. But I feel that the overall style of the movie, plus the seemingly competent direction and the general “this is interesting” factor it exhibits is more than likely to make it a wholly more exciting and “fun” movie compared to the lackluster, and I dare I say, unmemorable first three movies.

The only reason I can recall anything of the first three is because it thoroughly annoyed me at how bad they truly were.

At least the first movie had the excuse of still trying to find its footing on the cliff of acceptability.

The other two found the footing, then decided to jump headfirst.

  15. @Matt…I think you might be talking about someone else using Andy S because I have no idea what TMB is. I also denounced, on this site, the people that downloaded the leak and the people that pirate movies.

  16. my bad, i was just joking anyway

  17. I was going to ignore this movie till yesterday when i saw the Sabretooth clip on yahoo – i forget his name right now (Liev Schreiber?)but he’s an impressive actor and that might make this worth watching. In fact, it’s starting to look like an ensemble piece, which means less screentime for miscast pretty boy Hugh Jackman, so yet another reason why it might be more watchable than the other X movies. Love the comics, hate the films, especially the butt ugly costumes.

  18. ugly costumes?

“what would you prefer, Yellow spandex?”

  19. if having the spandex meant having the wolverine from the comics with all the blood, guts and glory… Then hell yeah. But thats just me.

  20. Nice comeback, Matt!

    I’m with Andy. X-Men 2 rocked.

  21. @Jago
I am with you on that as well.

  22. Little grunt (wolverine) was my best character in all marvel since I was a kids shoot I use to run down hill and jump to cut or brose my self to see if I can heal like him (never work and was to painful but I’ll tell ya was fun thinking of it now but back then wasn’t funny).
I really enjoy what they have done with this character and I hope they do the same with Warren/ Archangel/ Horseman Death

  23. I enjoyed X1 and X2,

As for the costumes, Watchmen did the costumes justice and they were awesome I thought.

Don’t worry folks, one day I’ll make an X-Movie that’s not tied to Fox’s self-made continuity and respects the comics :)

  24. @rob
    hell yes RoB !
make it and keep that hat as far away from Remy as possible .
