Marvel has been going symbiote crazy lately, creating the perfect opportunity to spin-off Venom's Space Knight form as its own symbiote. Flash Thompson transformed into this new form when Venom was cleansed by the Klyntar race in Guardians of the Galaxy #23, with Venom: Space Knight charting his adventures before eventually returning to Earth.

Venom’s most well-known and original host was Eddie Brock. But after Brock's temporary death, the military gained control of the symbiote. Eugene "Flash" Thompson was an early character in the Spider-Man mythos, serving as a bully to Peter Parker, but Flash went on to redeem himself as a war hero who lost his legs in service. Flash was given the Venom symbiote and became a new type of hero as Agent Venom. After serving on Earth, Agent Venom joined the Guardians of the Galaxy to take his heroics into space.

Eventually, Venom leaves the Guardians and becomes an Agent of the Cosmos, merging with his symbiote to become a powerful hero once the accumulated psychic trauma the alien had experienced was washed away by returning to its home planet. Now a Space Knight, Flash travels across the galaxy on missions and does good where he can. The Agent Venom costume has a notable militaristic appearance to it, but as an Agent of the Cosmos, Venom takes on a wildly different look. This 'costume' has the bulk of Venom's classic form, but in a less chaotic configuration, with the notable detail of a sci-fi, almost Iron Man-like covering over his face.

Since this time in Venom's past, the symbiote race's history has undergone radical changes through the reveal of Knull, the symbiote god, and Venom's return to first Eddie Brock, then his son Dylan at the conclusion of the King in Black event. Even Flash Thompson is rumored to be the new Anti-Venom that will appear in Marvel's upcoming Savage Avengers book. But that doesn't mean the Space Knight costume should never be seen again. There are plenty of ways the suit can return, allowing this distinct character design to once again grace the pages of Marvel's comics.

Venom Space Knight

Following King in Black, the symbiotes are free from Knull's control, and there are more of them than ever. Given their shape-shifting abilities, it would be child's play for another to adopt this form, returning Marvel's symbiote Space Knight as a separate hero (or villain) to Venom. Marvel has countless symbiotes, each differentiated by color and key features, but the Space Knight form is unique, compelling, comes complete with space-themed narrative possibilities, and yet is currently going to waste.

With Venom continuing to develop Eddie Brock's new powers as Knull's successor while Dylan comes to grips with his symbiote protector, it will be a very long time before it really makes sense to bring the awesome Space Knight form back as Venom himself. But as the symbiotes search for new meaning after the death of their dark god, it would make total sense to seize the opportunity to resurrect a unique design that spent too little time in the spotlight. After all, Venom himself began life as an alternate costume for Spider-Man, so it's only fair his old outfit gets a chance at a life of its own.
