It seems people who have read the books are frustrated that the show is not following the books word per word which I totally understand, for instance I liked the twilight books way more than I like the movies, the movies do not do justice to Stephanie Meyer's story. This is why I refuse to read the Vampire diaries, because I love the show too much right now to ruin it for myself, but as soon as CW cancels the show I am marching to the nearest bookstore to buy all the books, at once.

i understand where your coming from but you cant always find a really good actor who's blonde and nina was the best actor for the part. she could of died her hair but they weren't going to demand her to.

welll not true they are filming this show off of the book which came out either before or the same year of twilight the book. they were both based off of totally different books. twilight doesnt rly have any adventure and vampire diaries have tons of it so its not a rip off rly at all if u think about it the only thing thts the same is tht a vampire who looks like hes 17 fell in love with a high schooler thts rly it

I must admit that I was disappointed with the show. All though the actors and actresses are pleasing, the show doesn't do the series justice. There is addition of new characters, the elimination of other characters, characters acting out of character, and so much more that leaves nothing but frustration. The horrible part is that I would actually like the show if I had not read the books. But since I already had my standards set by the series (which I thought to be amazing, with the exception of the most recent book), I couldn't even get past the first 2 episodes. Just like Smith's latest book in The Vampire Diaries series, it just doesn't sit well with me.

She is not blonde because they wanted to make her a nice character and not clash with Caroline’s character who is the antagonist. Actually the idea of making these books into a tv series came out before Twilight was made. They just didn’t move as fast as Twilight did. And she doesn’t fall in love with Damon. In episode 3, she slaps him for trying to kiss her. It may not be exactly like the book, but it is still a good show. If anything, it makes viewers want to read the series to compare. As for Paul, he can be a diva, but he is still an amazing actor and nice guy. You have to think about that he moved to Atlanta, which is totally different from L.A. It takes some adjustment. Give the show a chance, it takes more than just one episode to determine if it will be a good show. It really does get better and more interesting.
