To put it simple, when my friend told me that my favorite book was going to be a tv show I was immediately PISSED OFF! First off, I can’t believe some people think this is a rip-off of Twilight! ….This series is so much better than Twilight!(though I still love Jacob). This book was published in 1990-something (haha I 4got) so it cannot be a “wanna be Twilight” Twilight was good ya, but people obsess over it too much. It’s pathetic. Second, ….the cast…. MIA from Degrassi?!!! NO FRICKIN WAY!!! she looks too sweet/nice. Ya Elena is nice, but she is blonde BTW and has a strong look to her. Why can’t you just get the girl from he cover? She would be perfect! Stefan looks a little like how I imagined him, but…he’s not cute. Somehow the book seems so much better. And Damon…who is the handsome way taller evil looking older brother. No I imagined him built more:( . Third… Torn between two vampire brothers?! NUH UH!!! from the beginning we vows to make STEFAN hers. Then when she does, and runs into Damon, she gets a creepy vibe from him. She NEVER falls in love with him!!! She thinks of him as a brother too!!! Aghhhh!!!!! F*k all these people who ruin good books!!!!!!!!!!! Especially Blood and Chocolate. They did the exact opposite of the freaking book!!! Not even he setting was right!!!! Man I hate movies like this… I will CERTAINLY NOTTTT watch this stupid show. It will only make a mockery of the book…

Hehe sorry where it says …from he beginning we vows I mean Elena. Sorry about all the mistakes I’m just so pissed off with this and it hard for me to type on my itouch:(

I will try to watch it but if it fails to entertain me it’s Supernatural only on Thursday. I like your idea Bruce! ;D

Not even remotely interested. I like Vampires to a point, but I’m so tired of the teen Vampire bull. All the actors look 17 or 18 I know their older, but it’s ridiculous. Can’t we cast actual adults on a show for once especially on the CW all their shows have to be teenage looking people.

Joshi says:

I agree with Daniel F (wait what?). I like Vampires, but they’ve become so saturated lately and the premise of this show doesn’t really appeal to me, so I’ll be skipping it. And while the books did come out before Twilight, it sounds so much like it that since Twilight sounds bad, this sounds just as bad to me.

Bill Blume says:

What perplexes me about the whole “vampire-falls-for-teenage-girl” thing is that I’m only in my mid-thirties, and teenagers already annoy me. How could someone past a hundred possibly tolerate the presence of a teenager (no matter how hot she is)? I honestly don’t say this to be snarky. I truly do find this perplexing.

Joshi says:

@Bill Blume

I agree that teenagers are annoying (and I’m 23), but considering the amount of 30+ year old’s who date teenagers (illegally or not), it’s, unfortunately, not too hard to believe.

Sadly, teens are the hot spending commodity. Not a lot of bills, but have money to blow, so teen based shows it is! Arg.

Yea, I like Vampires also, but this is getting silly, how TV will jump on the band wagon after one franchise, through luck and timing, kicks off a trend.

Hey, if we’re lucky, they’ll start figuring out how to write quality shows about humans some day.

i love how the writer of this article took quotes from the tca’s and completely manipulated them into creating some controversy. here’s a link to what paul wesley really said:

Yea – I was quoting sci-fi wire’s article and I see where you’re coming from T-ROY. I’m sure you meant the writer of my source article, since I was working from that article. hehe.

The quotes I use look accurate, but I see they’re paragraph enders and I see how the Sci-Fi Wire article spun it.

Damn… that’s interesting.

@Bill Blume

Exactly. I had the same thought during Twilight: It would be the equivalent of a 70 year old guy going after a 15 year old girl. Creepy.

You’d think that centuries old vampires would be going after women in their late 20s to early 30s, with some life experience, especially if it wasn’t about the sex, which for vampires (AFAIK) it isn’t.

Regardless of whether or not the source material came out before Twilight’s, this show is still a Twilight rip-off. It was only put into production because Twilight (the movie) was a hit, and I’m sure they’re filming it in the same style, so the show will still be heavily ripping off the Twilight movie.

Even if the source material is better than Twilight, I still have no interest in watching this for that exact reason.

Rob-
in that case, you should really alter or delete this article so as to not be a part of the spreading of mis-information and false gossip.

LOL… nah, cause I still am not that fond of what they did to SMALLVILLE to make room for this show.

tr says:

great now i know NOT to come to this website for accurate news and updates. very smart of you ;)

avy says:

ok i hate that they made this show with nina, cuz shes not blonde!wtf!

EC says:

She is not blonde because they wanted to make her a nice character and not clash with Caroline’s character who is the antagonist. Actually the idea of making these books into a tv series came out before Twilight was made. They just didn’t move as fast as Twilight did. And she doesn’t fall in love with Damon. In episode 3, she slaps him for trying to kiss her. It may not be exactly like the book, but it is still a good show. If anything, it makes viewers want to read the series to compare. As for Paul, he can be a diva, but he is still an amazing actor and nice guy. You have to think about that he moved to Atlanta, which is totally different from L.A. It takes some adjustment. Give the show a chance, it takes more than just one episode to determine if it will be a good show. It really does get better and more interesting.
