Val Kilmer will be replacing his Heat co-star Robert DeNiro in the New Orleans-set thriller Microwave Park.
The film will be directed by Charles (son of Irwin) Winkler.
According to Val Kilmer’s website, he will play “a burly rough but loyal cop” while 50 Cent will star as his partner.
This is really cool news. If he’s replacing DeNiro then this is quite a high profile role, just the thing that a talent like Kilmer needs at the minute. I feel that he is one of the greatest talents in Hollywood and a much under-used star that seems to have become victim of some BS bad press.

Don’t believe me? Check him out in these films:
Wonderland
Spartan
Top Secret
Thunderheart
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
It’s good to see him on the comeback trail and with the new Knight Rider show we should be seeing (and hearing) a lot more Kilmer.
On a total side note, you should check out his music, it’s great!!!
I’ll keep you posted on any further developments.

Yeah but with 50 cent? Who has the acting talent of say any other rapper-wannabe-actor. Zilch.
Check out his music?? No thanks.
I think there’s a shark that’s jumped when actors start thinking they are rock stars as well.
(Kevin Bacon).
The one good thing about this post is that he’s prob NOT going to be working on a weekly show called Knight Rider.
This new project sounds lame as can be. Val should try out a Superhero film. There’s plenty of new charaters coming up.
Val Kilmer is not only a great actor, but he’s also a fantastic musician and has a brilliant singing voice! His music CD is excellent, and also check out his brilliant performance in “Ten Commandments: The Musical”. More than, Val is one of the kindest people ever to grace this world.
Besides if people aren’t going to bother to even sample Val’s music then how the hell can they possibly judge it and talk about crap like “jumping the shark”. You can’t make comments like that and be taken seriously without having even heard the music.
Ok Michael you tell me what musical cd of Vals will blow me away and I will go out tomarrow and buy it and give you a review on this post. I’m a huge music fan so I hope you have good taste. If I like it I will take back my “jump the shark comment and eat crow” if not I won’t hold back on my review….
I’m waiting for the album of your choice. Witch one?
Still waiting Michael. I have time today to go get his album.
Witch one should I get?????
Has anyone seen Val Kilmers music cd at Starbucks?
Firstly, I don’t live online, so it takes me time to get back to people.
Also, Val’s music has not yet been released to the general public in music stores and such, other than the CD demo’s he sold from his website – all proceeds of which went to charity. Val is working on a debut full-length CD to be released hopefully sometime this year, but is current;y busy filming, so I don’t know when the CD will be released.
If you wish to check out Val’s music, you can find it here:

Also, Val was ranked an impressive #32 out of 25,100 rockers on the ReverbNation website, so obviously there are many fans of his music so far. That’s even without having released a full length CD yet. I’m sure that Val’s ranking will be even higher once that has been released.
If you don’t believe me, here’s a note from Val himself.
A NOTE FROM VAL…

Well that explains the look on the face of the Amoeba sales guy today when I asked if they had Val Kilmers cd.
So Michael does he sing or play guitar? Sounds like he’s part of a band rather then going solo.
Well I will do this Michael when his cd comes out in stores find me here on Screenrant (I’m here everyday) and I will go and get it and give you an honest review…
Guys,
It’s great to see a good discussion on Val Kilmer’s work (film and music.
