I can actually see Kilmer being cast as the Joker if they had to do it for the 3rd installment.

How weird fantastic could that be?

Is he still the voice of KITT? Everyone wants to know, haha.

Val Klimer and Welsey Snipes both outstanding actors that some how fell out of the lime light. The good news is that you can always make a come back in Hollywood, just ask RDJ.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang very dark comedic approach to how Hollywood is and also very entertaining…Wasn’t Kilmer’s downfall his ego in the years after Batman Forever?

I’ll freely admit Kilmer has done some utter crap.

BUT

the guy can be SO good
early 80s? THUNDERHEART and TOMBSTONE

the guy is just amazing

I don’t even have to comment on HEAT ( one of my fav movies ever)

more recently though, Salton Sea was extremely good and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang as others have said….

But hands down - SPARTAN - Kilmer and that great Mamet goodness going on - what a GREAT friggin flick

I really loved Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Couldn’t make it through Batman Forever, though. Not really Kilmer’s fault - the whole thing was just too cheeseball.

Hey Niall, here in Hollywood you can pay 20 bucks and take a cool tour of haunted locations in the area. (The entire town is haunted btw).
Anyway the John Holmes house is on the tour. Its freaky cause the house is way up in the hills. You can totally see this kind of thing (murder most foul) happening up there its so secluded.
Freaky film!

GreenKnight,

I think that Joel Schumacher had a lot to do with Kilmer’s rep- he was a bit angry that Kilmer pulled out of Batman and Robin (they put the film into production early following BF’s bigger than expected Box office)

Then he was involved in The Island of Dr Moreau - which was a trouble production from the start.

Yeah but at the time I read that even the ultimate ego that was Brando told Kilmer to get over himself…I guess it all goes back to what you want to believe Niall…I think some productions are doomed from the start and The Island of Dr Moreau was certainly one of them…I have always enjoyed seeing Kilmer on film I think he is a great actor and after Thunderheart I always wanted to see what he was going to do next..Nice to see him and RDJ starting to get back to A status in Hollywood..RDJ is there especially after Tropic Thunder…Kilmer will get there again…Didn’t know about the Schumacher thing…Thanks for the info

Cheers

I was really dissapointed his role wasnt larger in Deja Vu.
He and the whole time tech team were phased out of the last 40 minutes of the film because of Denzels time traveling.

Val is quite an actor. I remember talking about him with Kevin Spacey in 1990 when Kev was doing National Anthems at Long wharf. I am posting for my son Craig. Val is his hero and I watch Tombstone with him every week. My son has a brain tumor and he sends me off to get letters from his idols. Sadly, Val and whacked Adam Ant are people I do not know. I have known everyone from Kate Hepburn, Burt Lancaster to his love Julia Roberts (who wrote and sent photos and a gift). Most actors have worked for me on celeb audio charity projects. I saved Val the space to record on Kate Hepburn’s last project. Just look up Craig Braginsky. Val’s agent never got back to me. Great actor, not nice fellow I guess. Mickey Rourke is another who will not reply. Patricia Arquette and my friends Jeremy Irons and Peter O’Toole also wrote to my monkey and namesake. I spent thousands buying Val’s “Tombstone” gun (real 1882 colt)and knife direct from Caravan West/Peter Sherayko. My sweetie has a few months left and I have failed. Odd as I am known by most of Hollywood. Any suggestions? A petition (joking). In any event, my son wanted me to post that “Tombstone, Salton Sea and True Romance all ROCK!). I live near and know Chris Walken who adors Val. I bought the signed cd and we both enjoyed it. Thanks for reading a lost man’s post (my 1st). Love to all you Kilmerites. Anyone who is helpful in my quest will get a film worn (by Val) thank you gift!

I met Val briefly in NYC as Mira Sorvino and I had the same manager, Jean Fox (now retired). He was very distant due to the divorce and custody issues. My boy was not a fan then, he was about 2 yrs. old. Val, if you are a God as my son believes….READ THIS and contact BMP,Ltd.
Warm Regards, Craig

Val is a very giving man. He loves children, it seems maybe Val dosen’t know what is going on. His handlers are always trying to keep allot of things from him. (thats just a thought) To the person said he was grummpy in the NYC , that was when Val was going thru a very hard time, his wife told cnn
she is giving Val a divorce.(kinda hard to find out when he was making the movie with Brando.)
I hope that helps somewhat, I have meet him also, he was charming, funny, So everyday like everone can’t be a perfect day, even for actors. Blondi

Val is a self absorbed and emotionally extinct person. After speaking with val via phone, email and in person, he would not put pen to paper for my dying son. Stop worshiping val as if he was ELVIS! I knew Elvis well, and a kinder, more loving creature has Never walked this earth. To Tartarus with Val KILL MER!

My grandfather knew Elvis and said the guy had good days and bad days. He said some days Elvis was the nicest guy and other days he was a complete ass. Most people I have heard talk about Val say he is a very nice guy. For the record I don’t worship anybody. There is nothing more pathetic.

Who said worship is pathic, who said we worship him.All I here is people who care about an actor thats really done some great movies. He also gives to several charites, he has them listed on his site. Maybe the person looking for guidence to Val, should go to his site, and state your case there, you might find some help there. I have met Val, he was very nice, he has the gift of acting
for so many years, And Val made KKBB to help RDJ
to get back on his feet. Val has not given in, he’s making films that he wants too. Plus he had a CD put out,A book of Poetry, He’s still around full time. If likeing a actor, dosen’t mean people fall to his feet, it’s all about telling him how entertaining he has been. I absolutely think we are lucky to have a great actor, and many great stories he’s told us, in movies.

Daniel f - Val and Elvis are as different as celery and Spock! Elvis was a tortured genius, incapable of protecting himself. Val is a is an actor, a fake, a liar. If Elvis is GOD then Val would be some jerk who drowned his brother. When are you going to get the point that ACTORS are always acting and not worth our time. I OWN the largest piece of pie (that is Holywood-London). Watch the movies and enjoy. Forget about the actor. If you would like a list of great men and ladies who are ACTORS, I would be Happy to supply.

I read quite a bit about the making of “The Island of Dr. Moreau” and Kilmer was a TOTAL prima donna - to the point of almost causing the movie not to be able to be made.

Elvis a tortured genius ? Are you honestly being serious ? I laughed so hard reading that I spit my soda all over my screen. Acting is an ability just like anything else. Some are good some are bad. I respect people who can act well just like I do with people who can sing well.

People who critize others, usuallyhave no respect for themselves. I don’t know why you would even mention him(Val) if you dislike him, go away. Don’t bother to watch him, ther’s so many people who care about him, he dosen’t need a heckler.
Some of you, just get off beng piss ants, he dosen’t need your bull.

Guys,

A lot has been said about Kilmer - most of it originating from Joel Schumacher - and coming from the late 1990’s, when Kilmer was having his divorce.

Maybe he was a bit distracted - but I still stand behind the man as an actor, and in my opinion he hasn’t given a bad perfomance in the last 15 years - even Red Planet!

Niall
