I remember seeing the short version of this film, back in 2005.I even remmeber someone commenting on the director working with Tim burton. Geeez does it really take that long to make a film???

I just recently saw the trailer for 9 on Apple’s website, and I loved it. I’m a big fan of the whole post-apocalyptic genre, and the fact that Tim Burton is attached to it can only mean good things. I also totally agree with what has been said above about the concept of more “adult” animated movies. I’ve seen some great animated short films that you probably wouldn’t want your kids to see. Hopefully this will bring the genre a little more light.

i think it looks amazing! ever since i got into Samurai Jack i think there is a lack of animation that kids and grownups can enjoy together besides comedies like shrek or pixar movies.

We NEED more movies like this to make animated films more viable as a medium for adult entertainment (well animated adult entertainment that doesn’t involve monsters, tentacles, and things that would make my dog cover his eyes, and he see his own butt up close and personal on a regular basis….) Think of it like this. Instead of spending 90% of your budget on retaining high priced actors over the course of 3-4 films and having to deal with sets, make up, special effects, etc. you have much more epic tales animated in this manner. I’ve always been a fan of Burton for his push of this genre. Sooner or later studios will stop seeing animated films as kid stuff and I think you can already start to see that change.

Looks like someone in Hollywood still might have a good idea or two left in their head.

Thoroughly impressed by what I have seen so far but I worry about a cool fuzzy attachment ala WALL*E if they aren’t careful of its ending. Reality is both bright and dark in its description of humanity’s (of course I know these aren’t humans here……maybe) quest for survival. I also see a predictive storyline which upsets me a bit and hope that its final print doesn’t relay that. I’m tired of predicting story lines while watching a movie. Originality is rare and would love to be surprised for a change.

I hope Burton’s leadership is evident in this new outing and apocalyptic futures present a new twist in its finality.

I like animated movies. Maybe sitting through video game cut-scenes for years makes me more open to them than most, but I think there’s a lot to be said for a film medium that has no limits other than budget and imagination. I’ll be going to see this. The association with Tim Burton will only help it, and it seems to have a bit of a Fallout vibe to it, which I like.
