Players who've added the Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker DLC can now unlock and choose the Sage class for their player character. There's a series of six quests to follow to unlock Sage in FFXIV Endwalker, and players will start in Limsa Lominsa. The Sage is one of two new classes available in FFXIV, alongside a new male Viera race, a level cap of 90, cities, tribes, and more additions. New FFXIV players can buy Endwalker and still get all the other expansions, but they'll need A Realm Reborn or the starter edition first. Players new to the realms will also have to do some work in-game if they want to unlock the Sage class. They'll have to find a fast way to reach levels 70-80.

As a healer wielding Nouliths, the Sage is truly remarkable and unique in comparison to the White Mage, Scholar, and Astrologian job classes. The job has versatile healing abilities, like being able to directly heal party members with spells or create barriers to protect them. Reaching the end of the quests to unlock the Sage class in FFXIV will certainly be worth the effort for players wanting their character to try something new.

Sage class Requirements And Quests In FFXIV Endwalker

FFXIV Endwalker Sage character job boss fight

To unlock the new Sage class in FFXIV Endwalker, players are going to need a level 80 Disciple of War or Magic job. While the first quest may be unlocked at level 70, the remaining quests will require a higher level each time until reaching 80 for the last. Players can begin this questline by traveling to Limsa Lominsa's Lower Decks and speaking with the Sharlayan Maiden. Here are the quests needed to unlock the Sage Class in FFXIV:

  • Sage's Path - This initial quest will begin the series and will also reward the icons needed to continue, like the Stonegold Milpreves icon.
  • Sage's Focus - This part of the quest requires players to practice giving aid, then battle with Ancel Rockfist, Loida Brighteye, and Mahaud Flamehand.
  • Sands of Despair - This part of the quest will just include a few conversations and cutscenes and still reward of experience and Gil.
  • Poisoned Gift - Players will attempt using diagnosis in this quest.
  • Pledge of Hope - Players will again use the diagnosis, then fight some fiends.
  • Life Ephemeral, Path Eternal - Finally players will travel to Hundred Throes and take on the boss, Guildivain.

The quests and travels can seem long, but, once the Sage class is unlocked, it will be worth the effort. It is actually easier than attempting to unlock its counterpart, the Reaper class, which has more travel time and boss fights. Once the final boss is defeated players can use the Sage class and will receive the achievement Heal Thyself.
