well I was going to comment about JCVD wanting to do serious roles now and how he was put off by the Expendables spot offer……but it looks like you all beat me to it lol

Hopefully they both have grown up some since then and know how to act like adults now. I imagine they also have much smaller egos now then they did back then and that can temper a man who once believed he was on top of the world.

Its a shame about JCVD but teh again he isn’t the only 80s action star to go DTDOM (Direct To Disc Only Movies); Segal, Lundren; Snipes; need I say more? I admit I haven’tseen the movie JCVD butI hear it is good.

I too idolized Van Dam but for the reason that all the girls I knew wanted to see him partially or fully nude doing those splits. I’d be happy just looking lke that; forget the splits.

Ok Actually this would be the Fifth movie in the franchise seeing how as UniSol 2 and 3 were made for cable movies. Im surprised that Lundgren and Van Damme patched things up because ont he Special Features of the Original UniSOl DVD they were ready to beat the crap out of each other.

JCVD is my hero. I remember watching Street Fighter back when the game was popular and thinking he was so kickass as Guile. I watched the movie like a year ago and was ashamed at how terrible it was. JCVD is still the man and I hope this reignites his career which it won’t.

Van Damme was a pretty good martial artist in his prime. Bloodsport was a fabulous film, documenting the life of Frank Dux. After that, JCVD made some dogs, but the original Universal Soldier was okay. Then he got into drugs really bad, and sort of faded away.

I’m rooting for the guy. Even at that, I’ll probably wait for the DVD.

I watched this trailer before going to sleep yesterday, and dreamt of Jean Claude blowing up a submarine with a laser gun blasting purple energy. I had to rewatch the trailer because I genuinly couldn’t remember if my dream was real or not, the whole trailer just felt quite silly.

It sort of makes sense that JCVD would pass on a role in The Expendables. As big of a name as he was, he wasn’t in the same mold of action stars as Stallone, Arnold or Bruce. He and Seagal were redefining action films by throwing jabs and kicks instead of going through boxes of bullets. Also, and this is pure opinion, he seems like he could be the sort of celebrity who would need a lead or major role to be involved in a project.

I’ll be buying this DVD when it comes out.

I grew up on Van Damme, Arnold, Stallone, etc. Universal Soldier is still a great action flick and much more than that to me. Van Damme still has it and I’ll be supporting him.

Plus, original cast is back? Hell ya! Arlovski is also one of my favorite fighters, although he’s had a few really bad losses ever since he started working with Freddie Roach. But he’s on a comeback trail!

as much as i like jcvd this movie doesnt look promising, im only going to watch it for the fighting and nothing else.

it would have been cool if he was in the expendables though, then the movie would be complete

After watching the movie JCVD i was actually impressed with his acting skills. Im bummed i would like to know why he turned down the Expendables role. Oh well ill wait for this on netflix.
