Ya, I know...it's sad.

But I didn't rent it for the reasons you think. Mike Myers is a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan (like me) and it featured cameos of some players and some scenes were shot on location.

That stuff had been talked about in the Toronto news papers a few times so that peaked my interst. The movie was awful in every which way and unless Mike Myers can make a great Austin Powers or Wayne's World movie next, he's done as a leading actor (non just-voice-acting that is - Shrek will live on no doubt).

He does have a role in Inglourious Basterds so that'll be interesting.

@Rob:

Trailers essentially put the best scenes from the movie in...sometimes spoiling the movie. That having been said, you WILLINGLY rented The Love Guru?

I hear tell that movie was so painful to watch, a roomful of masochists begged the projectionist to stop the cruelty!

Ann,

I would appreciate it if you re-read your first comment where essentially go crazy on people for having a different opinion than you. Here:

"I’m really sick of all this stupid negativity. You know what, if you don’t like it, DON’T SEE IT! Just shut up about it already because I’m going to see it and I’m sick of listening to you people cry and moan."

Just shut up already? What? On a movie news site? So movie news sites shouldn't cover topics that they don't like...or do you mean commenters shouldn't comment unless its all positive? I'm a little confused... no one is talking about being forced to see it, or saying other people should/should not see it.

Now, re-read your second comment where you are again going on about people not having to see this. Who the heck is saying do/do not see this here other than YOU?

As for judging the film - we aren't - we're judging the trailers and forming expectations based on that and what has been said in the movie blogosphere about it. Why am I even explaining this, heh.

The Love Guru looked terrible in the trailers, I said it looked terrible from said trailers and so I waited for it on DVD. It was terrible. Is there anything wrong in what I did?

"Sounds like Ann wants some cheese with her whine…SO if you want cheese Ann go see ‘The Spirit” “Somebody get me a tie..and it better be red!!”

Hey, Greenknight (or is that "Geek Knight"), thanks for the advice but I'll pass. I think that I'll like this movie; if you won't, that's your right. I'm just kind of done with all the fan boy crying about it.

I mean, I guess, as an educated film fan, I can tell the difference between a "gonzo noir" style and other film styles and appreciate it for what is is, but if you can't, I won't hold that against you. So, I'll eat my cheese and whine, but would you like some taste to go along with that mouth? Perhaps some education to go with that brain? I wouldn't want to set improbable standards for you, I don't know, like proportion or possibly literacy.

Certainly I don't want expect reasoned discourse out of you. That would just be too much. My fan boy spammed email inbox from this site is enough to prove that that's an impossibility! Thank God for spam filters.

Let's keep it simple, Green: if you think you'll like see and you want to see the movie, then go see it. If you don't, don't.

If it doesn't interest you, fine, cool, great, give yourself a great big round of applause! Nobody is saying that people have to see this, have to love this or have to hate it; I just happen to think that it's generally a good idea to wait until you've actually seen a movie before you pass your "oh so relevant" judgment for the ages on it.

Vic, thanks for the respectful tone of your reply. I appreciate it. I understand your concerns and, who knows, maybe I'll hate this, too. You quote the Comic Con footage and the trailers as your reason du jour to label this film as crap. But you have to admit that you've based your opinion on something you've seen that isn't finished yet. You saw that footage before the film's final cut and films tend to change dramatically by final cut. I don't know, maybe this won't change that much, but I don't think it's generally a good idea to judge a movie based on small amounts of footage or the trailer. I think this is more of a case of fan boys being upset about what they perceive as Frank Miller's changes to the original comic.

And you know what, I liked the trailers. I thought they looked fun. Not all comic movies have to be "The Dark Knight." Some can be tongue in cheek and still be good. If you still hate it after you see it, so be it, but it's generally better to see the finish product before you pronounce something awful.

Upon running it through the positronic brain of Lt. Commander Data (pre-Nemesis, courtesy of a passing Time Lord), this odd phrase came out:

"WCTBW?", which translates to "What 'Choo Talkin' 'Bout, Willis?"

Data has been restricted from watching any more 1970s-era "historical documents", especially any featuring Gary Coleman.

I say this with all careful consideration, hours spent perusing the points you make...running your post through a Cray supercomputer, which arrived at the same conclusion I did about your post:

i thought the holiday music was awesome!!! i normally hate holiday music (I worked at a retail store and nov-jan that’s all they play, so you grow sick of it) but man that song was just fun!

Back to the footage, it doesn’t look like idk watchmen, or how awesome dark knight looked. But it’s still looks like something action packed to watch, and it’s got those oh so pretty ladies! So yeah I’m not counting down to it, but I probably will watch it in theaters.

i thought the holiday music was awesome!!! i normally hate holiday music (I worked at a retail store and nov-jan that’s all they play, so you grow sick of it) but man that song was just fun!

Back to the footage, it doesn’t look like idk watchmen, or how awesome dark knight looked. But it’s still looks like something action packed to watch, and it’s got those oh so pretty ladies! So yeah I’m not counting down to it, but I probably will watch it in theaters.

They should NOT have used a Christmas-y theme for this trailer. While the movie doesn't look THAT bad (only going by the first trailer I saw when I went to see TDK), the only thing that kept running through my mind while I was watching it was Peter's "would you like an apple pie with that?" Burger King thing from Family Guy (or the internet vid, whichever came out first).

Ann,

I'm not a fanboy, and I thought the stuff they're trying to tempt us into the theaters with is absolute crap. Does my opinion count?

If your opinion is in the minority over this, or any film, take some advice and avoid open discussion boards like this one on the topic. The appropriate and reasonable response to seeing discussions of opinions that annoy you is to simply refrain from subjecting yourself to them, not to bully an opposing body of opinion holders to keep it to themselves.
